Below are the new additions to our farm. Not pictured are 31 chicks that my 11 year old bought. We just bought a house that is adjacent to our current place, and it actually has some decent pastures, so we are venturing slowly into cattle.

Sorry for the extremely big pictures. I posted from my phone.

We are having fun. Thankfully, the bottle calf took right to the bottle
and feedings in the middle of the night are quick.

It is hard to believe the calf was born less than 18 hours before that
picture was taken.

Some of our goats did not start out as easily.

Awesome...why don't u let the momma feed the calf tho?

The momma calf is on a friend's farm, and they have had better results with
removing the calf earlier if it is going to be bottle fed at any point. We
were able to get a good bit of colostrum and milk from them to use for a
little while. The calf has taken very well to the bottle.

My son (11) found an old, antique square baler that he wants to redo.
He was looking at making a wooden box baler to use to make square bales,
but he found this one on Craigslist today.
We are supposed to pick it up on Saturday. He has been bouncing all over
the house tonight excited about it.

11 year old excited about hay?? Sounds like you have one heck of a partner! Does he have a horse yet? I still remember the day dad brought home my first ride, an older Shetland Pony named Comanche.

He is interested in machinery and gadgets, so this is a win-win.

He hasn't taken much interest in horses, but really likes riding the
four wheeler.
