We bit the bullet and bought 2 all seasons feeders last year. a 2000# broadcast, and a 600# timed protein feeder.
I have very limited time off so, I didnt want to be filling small feeders on my time off instead of hunting which is what I was doing with 4 or 5 small feeders. We set the large one up in the middle of the property as best could. If i could only buy one id buy a 1000# or larger broadcast.

I’ve had metal and plastic moultries leak and get mold in corn or otherwise clog up. Are these all seasons with 2000, 1000, and 600 pound capacity designed to not clog? I’m just curious as looking at 600 pound model but am concerned it may clog up and get mold and bugs like the Moultries. I don’t mind paying more as long as it is worth it and can not clog up as larger capacity that clogs up with mold and bugs is no good. Are these truly set and forget?

Ive had no problems with any clogging or leaks of any sort. These are very well built. The slingers on the broadcast ones are very stout. They will toss corn 30 ft away unlike the smaller feeders that do good to get it 10 ft from the feeder. The larger the broadcast area the longer it takes for them to eat it all up, and they dont bunch up. I will give a tip on these though. the 2000# broadcast is tall. You will either have to carry corn up a 8 ft ladder, or, take it up in tractor bucket. They make a stand and fill model that you can do with out any ladder. Its only 1000# capacity but thats better than filling small feeders 3 or 4 times a season. The timed protein feeder we bought is stand and fill.

Quality feeder on a budget...what works well? What power source(s) are best?
Thanks!! Not sure about the budget but the quality is great. I got a new Lamco feeder and it works and looks really good.

I like directional feeders like Sweeney or Texas Hunter I'm with you.....I wish there were more directional feeders available. It's nice to tuck a feeder into a field edge or old fence line out of the way and less obvious to the world.

I built mine. 55 gallon drum spinner feeder. I probably have $150 in each. I have 3 of them. The oldest is probably 10-12 years old I would say??? I fill them once at the end of season and once at the beginning of season. Different feed rates whether in season or out. Change batteries about twice a year. Paint them every year or two. Works like a charm. Same here.....^^^^^

ASF feeders are widely considered to be the best. They make a feeder exclusively for Bucees and the price is much lower than their standard feeders. Problem is, the Bucees in Alabama does not have them. Just about every Bucees in Texas has plenty of them. As of 3:30 this afternoon Baucees had 6 to 8 feeders along the southeast corner of the building. They looked pretty good, from a distance.
