I have a 50 mercury on a 1756 welded modified V. Not hard to steer at all. I would make sure it has a seat sir.

Now, you go on much of a run and the torque will wear on your arm. Least they did me, and it was a 25hp...maybe the setup was wrong? There's a little tab on the foot that you can adjust left or right to help eliminate steering torque. Well, I don't know if all motors have it but my little 4 stroke Merc does. I have also seen a guy heat and twist the skeg just a little too accomplish the same thing. I wouldn't go that route though unless I had no other options. There are a few bonafide boat guys on here that will probably have a real answer for you.
