Just picked up a new hunting ride, it's a 1995 jeep wrangler "sahara edition" with only 11k original miles. Everything original other than a replaced clutch & lift kit when a family member purchased it back in '97. Anybody have one of the jeeps? Pros and Cons. Going to upgrade the tires since it's got dry rotted boggers on it.

11k miles! only driven to the mail box?

Our uncle purchased it from a farmer who only had it for 2 years and he put 2000 miles on it basically since he purchased back in '97.

I would park it in the garage and go buy another one to take in the woods. That one is probably worth some money to the right person.

I'm still debating on cleaning it up or using it as a toy.

Fun fact. There are no 1996 Jeep Wranglers. Is it 4 cylinder or 6? Auto or manual? Soft or hard top?

That ain’t no “hunting ride” unless it was 11K miles of hell and 25 yrs of neglect.

Ignore the question about the manual. I see the new clutch.

It's the 6 cylinder with 5 speed. It's currently got the original hard top on it. It's a diamond in a silver factory.

Only neglect is sun damage to the paint. Unfortunately its been sitting uncovered for about 15 years but it has been ran about once every couple months.

YJs are not as desirable on the after market as a CJ or a TJ. It is do to the square headlights. While there is a market for them, it isn't anything like the other models.

If you decide to keep it, I would put a new lift on it. What you can get now will blow away anything that was around in 1997. Also, you are going to have to replace the hoses and belts. I am sure they haven't been replaced. I would also look at all the ball joints, tie rod ends and any bushings for dry rot.

You can find out what gears and axles it has on line. There are some websites where you enter the VIN and it gives you the build specs.

Do enough lift for 33s. I think with the YJ that would be 4 inches. Put a SYE and a new rear driveshaft on it. Other than re-gearing depending on what it has, you will have one hell of a trail rig and a fun vehicle to drive.

Mine is a 03 Sahara with the Awesome 4.0 Skrate 6. Got 32's on it now. Been wanting to lift it an inch or two for years. Just haven't done it yet.

Got 200K miles on it, and I'm gonna a drive it till it dies. But it isn't showing any signs of quitting. Still runs like a Champ!

Got the hardtop off now for the Summer. And the Jeep sleeps in a Garage every night.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

If you're just wanting to do an inch or so...........I'd put 2" spacers in the front and 1 or 1.5" spacers in the rear. Cheap, levels it (more or less) and should be enough to fit 33's (they may rub at full lock and/or if you disconnect the swaybars, so if you ever go off road you might consider extending the bumpstops, but otherwise should be enough.

There are 3 certainties in an uncertain world:

2. All Gun Laws Are an Infringement
3. Taxation Is Theft

Because that would consist of having to cut back on the natty budget
