Guys, we've been having a blast the last few weeks, ever since we picked up a trailer from a member and have been able to get her in the water. I only did bank fishing as a kid, then 20 years without much chance to fish, and then back to bank fishing with my son the last few years. We've caught more good fish in the last 3 weeks than the past 10 years from the bank. Put her out of commission these last few days to paint the inside, replace the trailer lights, and will put a trolling motor on. Hoping to go back out on Saturday.

I'm also enjoying letting little man get more experience with fixing stuff, not that I have a ton to teach, but the boat's heading in the right direction.

Heck yeah!
Y’all may win “AlDeer restoration of the year” with the boat.

Very cool! I’ve been a bank fisherman all my life save when my grandad took me with him in his old flat bottom during my formative years. His old boat is gone now, but I’ve been having an itch to get a little flat bottom rig at some point. An older boat on the cheap that I can work on myself would be a lot of fun I do believe. Please keep us updated with pics as y’all get her fixed up.

You've got her looking good Joe. And it appears that you are putting it to the absolute best use also. The looks on your family's faces speak well of that. If you ever make it up around the southern end of sand mountain (Sardis) I may have a few items towards fixing it up that you can have if you want them. I think I still have a hand control trolling motor, maybe an anchor or two, an anchor stop, and probably a few other things. I'll have to dig around in my shop to see what I still have if you're interested.

Good deal! But remember even with just a trolling motor, you still need to have it registered if your on public water. I learned that at Millers Ferry about 25 years ago...

My registration stuff renews in July so planning to keep it in private water until then.

On the outside I did several cans of flex seal, then primer, then green. On the inside I sprayed some cheap liquid rubber over a bunch of the rivets, then primer and a final coat.
