I have one that I bought in August. The good thing about it is that it's so light that I don't mind wearing it. I put it on at the start of every trip and wear it as long as I am on the water.
But the big question is whether or not it would work if I ever need it. I don't know. I'll be watching your thread to see if anyone has ever tested one.

I wonder who makes them and where. We know BassPro don't. I wear a Mustang.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Stop worrying about the price. instead consider the amount of flotation and whether or not it will hold your head out of the water if knocked out. You can hit the water at 30 miles an hour and get knocked out. When you get slung out it accelerates your body speed. If it won't support your head you drown. Yes, look for the best price, but look for best price on one that will save your life.

I have two onyx. Light and cool and I don't mind wearing it. I have never gone into the water with it so I hope it works if needed.

I use a Mustang around 200 days a year. A little advice here: unless you will be on a boat running at high speed, don’t tighten one of these life vest too tight around your waist. If these inflate, the waist strap tightens and it’ll also tighten around your neck. Also do not leave these vest out in direct sunlight, or a hot truck or automobile. The end of the CO2 cartridge will blow off and inflate the vest. Being in a open boat in the rain, or just working out on deck, in the rain will cause the auto inflation to be set off. With all this said I still work with, and trust, the Mustangs. And the auto inflation is the best game in town. I’ll use one for 24 to 30 months ( recharge it once a year) and get a new one. If you are considering getting one, no matter what name brand, check the expiration date on the charge unit, and make sure you get a newer one. I hope you never need it, but hope you have a good one on if you do.

Mustang is without a doubt Doc. I'm frugal too Doc, you have to shop prices, not throw money away needlessly. I always look for places to buy that give a veterans discount, senior citizen discount. Everything helps. I'll look online today and try to find you a sale price if possible.

I did a LOT of online searching when I bought my 2 Mustangs. I finally found year old stock still on the shelf, unopened/brand new at some place in MN. I saved about 50%.

I think it's an onyx, but she's a tightwad anyway. It's not been tested yet.
