If the game wardens monitored social media they should have written an ass pile of tickets for over the limit folks.

I am definitely concerned about club. We usual take 7-9 birds a year. We took 17 off 3000 acres this year. Several hunters had more free time this year. Am afraid we will pay the price next year f

I figure limit reduction is nearly here and I think most will support it. That way they can walk around bragging about being “tagged out”

I know of quiet a few non residents that came in and killed their 5. If you want to only kill 3, you can stop at 3. There isn’t anyone gonna stop you. If you don’t have enough turkeys, don’t shoot them. We killed 11 turkeys off 500 acres. Left plenty of birds gobbling for next year. I’m not in the business of improving habitat for turkeys so they can go next door. If you want to complain about nonresidents, complain about an enforceable tagging system. They paid their money same way I do when I travel to other states.

I'll support a one bird limit. I'll support anything that gets more people to quit hunting sooner.

Am afraid we will pay the price next year f That is strong! Correction, that is "detrimental" to the long term turkey population on that property. You can't double your normal harvest and not impact hunting in future years. Then again, if your club managed to kill one gobbler per 175 acres, then some on the club were baiting birds or you must have some super prime turkey habitat. I've known of places that held that many birds back in the day but that's a big number for today's hunting.

We killed 6 off of 500 acres. We left several gobbling the last weekend. Before the season we got pics of several different multi bearded birds and never killed one of those. I also saw 11 jakes in one morning. 9 in one group and I called up a pair about an hour later. I'm no biologist, but I don't feel real bad about killing those 6. Just because you have a lot of birds doesn't mean you are baiting. Sometimes your just hunting where turkeys like to be.I And no the limit doesn't need to be changed. If your hunting where there's not many birds, you need to look into finding a better place to hunt.

I've known of places that held that many birds back in the day but that's a big number for today's hunting. We have super mixture of great habitat for them. It’s also Cherokee County. #2 county in state for harvest numbers. Game warden is a member, no bait for sure. They just hadn’t been hunted hard two years before. Im for sure going to find a couple more places for next year. I’ve read a good harvest number is 3 pre sq mile (640 ac) off good tracks.

Interesting. I've always wondered how to determine how many I should kill off the 400 acres I hunt. We typically only kill 2, and that's seem to have little to no effect on numbers. Just myself and one other hunter, luckily this year I killed both. Most years I kill one and he kills one. I definitely need to find somewhere else if I ever want to increase my numbers. I have scouted some public land spots while I'm out bushwhacking and fishing in the summer and fall.

You're right , no one is gonna stop anyone for killing as many as they want, even if it's more than 5, but in Alabama it is all up to the individual and the properties (if they don't follow the laws). I am lucky enough to have plenty of leases with plenty of birds and surrounding landowners that don"t pressure birds also. And when I travel out of state I try to kill my limit. I wasn't complaining about NR's. I am one a lot of times too.
I can see your point, but I still think your full of crap.

I'll support a one bird limit. I'll support anything that gets more people to quit hunting sooner. This is more along my line of thinking. Theres way too many hunters. Not enough birds.
