I like the translucent gray that resembles the color of squirrels but only on my side of the river
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

All depends on water clarity and what applicaiton youre using it for. I normally fish clear mono or 100% flourocarbon line and sometimes even go to a flouro leader on the clear mono in clear water and pressured fish situations. Whatever it takes to get the bites. I wouldnt hestitate to fish the moss green mono on topwaters, flipping heavy cover, grass and mats, or in dirty or muddy water. Honestly, in anyting other than real clear water, it's probably no different than fishing braid.

Most of my reels have green on them (pier reels have bright green for visibility while most of my bait casters have a dark green line)...can't tell a difference in the # of fish caught on green vs a lighter color line. Unless the water is crystal clear, the fish won't care

I don’t think fish are one bit line shy. Throw whatever and you’ll get the reaction stroke. It’s not like a fish can reason and think things out.....at least in my experiences I’m sure others will say throw the lightest fluorocarbon leader you can

What Abolt said. I assure you he has caught more bass over ten pounds than anyone on this site. I'll add that when fishing moving baits like Cranks and spinnerbaits line color isn't as important as the lb test. The main time I worry about line color is very clear water and fishing a worm.

I do a lot of shiner fish for big bass in Florida. Tying a floro leader to the braid will get you way more strikes than just tying a hook to straight braid. ^^^^ Peach gets it and knows what he's talking about. Line size, color and line type makes a definite difference, in certain situations/applications. Like he said, get you some high viz yellow and walk out to the end of the pier. Tie your hook directly to the high viz and throw on those tarpon schools and snobble your bait on the high viz beside one with a long flouro leader and see which one gets eaten and which one gets avoided like it has corona virus. Big bass are the same way. Fish, and in particular, big fish predator fish that feed by sight, in most all species, do get line shy.

Ben, i seriously doubt Ronnie has an accurate count. He is a master of bed fishing, especially those smal lakes around the Fl panhandle. out of curiousity how many have you caught over 10/ It's a crying shame phone cameras weren't around 20 years ago and most of us have few photos of Fish. Ihave caught 11 over with 13.4 my biggest. It was caught in 73 on Lake Eufaula. My goal this year was to catch one over tenon a swimbait. This virus crap really screwed my trip to Seminole and Eufaula up. My 13.4 was almost as wide as its length, yes it was weighted on certified scales at the Ft Benning Rod and Gun Club. TexasNative, I love pink line. I used a lot when Big Game made a pink. It really disappears in clear water. I'll have to try some Cajun red.

I gotta ask how many over ten has he caught? What's the biggest? Ben, in all honesty, I do not know. I wish I would've kept a log from the beginning but just never thought to record it. Just a guess would be a couple hundred over 8, maybe more. On avg. probably 7-12 fish a spring over 8. All depends how often I get to go and mostly on the weather and the moon and if I can manage to get away from work when those two things line up and conditions are right, which unfortunately is not often. Also, I love to turkey hunt too, so that often interferes with catching big bass. I have kept a detailed log starting in Feb 2016 and I've cuaght 36 over 8lbs since that date. Perch has seen pics of most of these, if not all. Bass fishing is his passion and I would send him pics each spring while he was going through his cancer stuff since he couldnt fish. A breakout of just the 36 fish caught in the last few years, by weight class, is as follows: over 8lbs - 15, over 9lbs - 8, over 10lbs - 7, over 11lbs - 4, and over 12lbs - 2. The last "teen" fish I caught was in 2015 and it weighed 13-6. Biggest I ever caught was between 14 and 15 and I didnt have a scale with me at the time to officially get a weight but I've handled enough big fish to be within half a pound or so. Caught that one in late July, fishing deep structure in about 15' of water. All of those 36 logged fish, and 98% of all the big bass I've ever caught, were caught on artificials, on public waters and all except 3 early ones that I put on the wall back in the 80's, have been released. I'll also say that there are not nearly as many big fish around as there were, even just 10 yrs ago. They get harder and harder to find each year, I guess due to pressure and a lot more people fishing and keeping them at 6-9 lbs before they can reach their potential. The 10+ fish are definitely not nearly as abundant as they used to be. I've really refined my techniques over the years and can sight fish with the best of the pros. I would give anything to go back to the mid 80's on these same lakes and be able to fish them at their prime, knowing what I know now.

I was talking with a young guy the other day and telling him the same thing about wishing we had cameras ready available back then. There were a bunch of giants that came out of hurricane lake in the 70’s including a 17.6 caught by Robert Dunsford. I fish all the same lakes that Abolt fishes and like he said, it is much more difficult to catch big fish out of these lakes now. I agree with what he said about too many 6-9 pounders being kept for years out of these lakes. I am a firm believer that if you are not going to mount it, then don’t keep it. I do have some pictures of some big bass I’ve caught in the past few years and would love to post them if someone would pm me their cell number and I will send them the pictures to post. Abolt, his son, and Karl W. And Kevin G. Have caught a truck load of big bass. LOL. 2 out of those 3 persons listed are the exact reason why I didnt catch 60 or more fish over 8 in the past 4 yrs. There's only so many big fish to go around in the area. I'm quickly finding out that I've taught my son way more than I should have. He and I fish a lot together and he's gonna make sure he gets his share of the big fish. It's been especially bad now that he can grab the boat and go by himself if he's home from college. KW has stayed mostly in Blackwater and at Brooks Hines the past 3 years so he's been a non-factor on all the lakes east of Baker. While Kevin G. has still done a little damage, his health has kept him from pounding on them like he normally would in recent years, which has left a few more availalble for me to play with. If you include the fish caught by my son while fishing with me in the past 3-4 yrs, add another 15-20 or so to that 36 number and probably another 50-60 or so to the estimated grand total. Peach, how is Kevin G doing? I didnt get to fish all that much this past spring so I didnt see him on the water like I normally would. I need to give him a call.
