Drinking coffee. Waiting on my bro to pull on britches and gonna drive to property. Oldie country on radio. First song was “Blow Seminole Wind.” Hope that’s a good omen.

Got up this morning with great weather at the house. Headed for the woods and the bottom fell out just as I Crossed the Greene County line. I turned around and came home.

Camped out at the WMA last night with the intention of hunting this morning. Sat at the top of the mountain for a few mins at around 5:00 watching the lightning and decided to head home. Glad I did. Buddy left about 30mins behind me and said he had trees blowing down in the road in front of him on the way home. I sat on the porch and watched a funnel cloud try to form up. Got real rough for a little bit here. Rockford just north of us got it bad I think.

Thought I would get after one in Morgan county this morning. Only a 5 day season in zone 3, and nothing.

Woke up at 3 and the rain looked like it was going to be around a while so I stayed in bed. At first light it was still raining, but about 8:15 the dang sun came out and now it’s calm and partly cloudy. I bet they’re hammering

On the road to hunt turkeys in Michigan. 383 miles one way, but worth it.

Drove up to MO last night and finally got to bed at 3ish. Was having a dream this morning about not being able to chamber a shell on a bird with a jammed gun when I realized the drumming was real. Dang bird was about 2 yards outside the bedroom wall (trailer walls are thin). 2 birds hung around for a couple of hours walking around the atvs and trucks in the yard. 1 was a vocal bird but the other just spit and drummed for 2 hours. Proud of my son cause I said, "hey that gun is right there." he answered by saying, "Dad, I'm not a poacher."

Good answer. (Season start tomorrow)

Got into a field after the storm passed. Had kids and expected to see a show. There have been 3 gobblers around this field. Heard 1 bird way off the property. Nothing showed. Back at the house before the next round of rain. Will try again tomorrow.
