you got it; this is a unique BSR Red Mountain “transition”’skillet - believed to have been made after the Century series began being manufactured after 1950;’most Red Mountain skillets have much larger numbering/lettering — this one has very small lettering

Ok, so this isn't just any ordinary cast iron skillet,

You can file a claim for hidden damage

Depends on who pays for the shipping charges. If you aren’t paying then sorry if you don’t claim damage when received

You don't sign for USPS packages unless the shipper request and pays for that service.
None the less; you can file a claim for hidden damage. There is nothing in the claim filing process about having signed for it.

You don’t know nearly as much as you think you do on this subject. Post office drops it at your door or mailbox or yard or wherever. You aren’t asked to sign nor do you have to to file a damage claim. I work in this industry. I do know what I’m talking about.

Hell our chewy order has been out for delivery for two weeks. They told the wife it was lost Thursday. When she asked them how it was lost when scanned every morning and afternoon the woman said I don’t know.

Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

you’ll probably have to file a claim to find it — even then, they may not can

JustHunt is right; there are no stipulations on who has to file the claim - i filed as the seller, as i felt that was the right thing to do for the buyer ...

4/18/20 UPDATE - got the letter above by USPS, explaining the reason for denying the claim ... EVEN THOUGH the buyer showed them the damage to the box, damage to the contents (ie the skillet), and to my knowledge showed them the pool noodles & explained that it’d take a TON OF BRICKS to break a cast iron skillet, they’re denying the claim based on the fact that they didnt see any damage to the box ... this is the classic insurance playbook maneuver - DENY all claims & hope the person gives up ... rest assured, i damn sure aint giving up
