I am curious about setting up a No Till planter for wildlife plots and have only ever messed with my burch planter and a side unit on a farmall super A. My question is to the guys that actually have done this or use these machines. Would buying something like the unit below and cutting it down to make a two row that I can pull with my Massey 150 or Kubota work?

https://northmiss.craigslist.org/grd/d/greenwood-jd-planting/7088713161.html

Second question is if this is feasible, is anyone else interested in splitting a unit up don't think I need a 14 row planter.

Those JD planters are driven by a central transmission meaning the units are not individually driven like older JD units or Allis models. Keep that in mind as it would not be as simple as taking off two units and attaching them to a tool bar.

Yes, I’ve done it and I have 2 JD 7100 planters. I’ll send you a guys number that cuts them up, Shotts.

You can get 2 units out of it there are 2 drive wheels but some things will need to be flipped around to put the drive wheel between the row units. I believe you can do that it is setup for narrow rows. Not 110% sure it has been a long time since I have been around a narrow row to remember

I would toss in a little to get a couple of the row units off it for parts if you wind up buying it. Maybe the row markers.
