My group has been to kansas and rifle hunted public properties and wiha land for a few years. We are considering applying for the northeast part for a DIY bow hunt this year in November. Just trying to see if any of you have done it and what your thoughts for that particular part of the state are? Thanks

I thought NR's were muzzy / bow only.

I did this 10 years ago. Lots of land available. We hunted wiha and WMA land. There were a few trucks but not many. We went the week of 11/11. I got a nice 9pt on the second day.

I been wanting to go out on a Muley tag and actually drew the tag once, but never went.
Couldn't nail down an area to go to, never been to KS.
Thinking of applying again if I don't draw NM.

Lots of WIHA in NW Kansas county where I've had a lease for years. Muzzleloader and modern rifle season can only be described as an invasion of hunter orange. The orange brigade overrun the landscape in waves that roll in/out day after day. I have watched as many as 6 hunters on 80 acres of cut beans or corn. No way would I hunt a WIHA outside archery season.

We have killed some bucks. But by the time December rolls around for rifle, most all are busted up and rut is over.

Lawd! See that’s what I want to avoid. I was hoping it wouldn’t be so bad with a bow. And NE kansas seems to have a few options to get away from the traffic.

I went up there before too. Lots of land and great bucks. I went pre rut and didnt see ONE other hunter and hunted a few WIHA farms. It was a blast.

Bow hunt Unit 8 the first week in November. Its a friend's family land. Unfortunately, the older lady that owns the adjacent property leased to the state as part of Walk-In Kansas Program last year. Could definitely see the difference this past year as the deer seemed more pressured than in the past. There is not a lot of public land around that part of the state except for her piece. It's still an unbelievable experience every year.

I’m looking at the first 2 weeks in November. Think that should put me in the rut of some sort.

Definitely in Unit 8 area - I don't know about other areas.
