Couple of years ago was out jogging at lunch and a pickup flew by. A ladder blew out of the back.
A guy in a car tried to quickly stop and back up but I beat him to the ladder. Picked it up and was slow-walking with it, figuring the truck driver would have noticed A LADDER blowing out of the back of his truck or off a rack or something.
Guy never slowed down or touched his brakes. I even waited another 5-10 minutes thinking he might return.
Dang good ladder.
Another time I was in the back of our neighborhood and someone on their curb had stacked some 45-, 25-, 10- and 5-pound barbell plates along with a barbell and curl bar. They were in good condition. By the time I got home (about a mile away) and returned in my truck, someone had gotten them. Consarn it!

That's a good find for someone.

Left work one day (back in 2004 probably) and was driving down Hwy 43 in Chickasaw. Saw what looked like pieces of paper being blown around by cars going up and down the highway. One of the "pieces of paper" got stuck under my windshield wiper arm and I saw that it was a $20 bill. I turned around and went back and $20 bills were scattered all over the side of the road. I picked up almost $500 in 20's. There was a bank a block or back, so I figured someone had just cashed a check or withdrew $ from their account. A buddy of mine worked for CPD so I called him and told him what had happened. He said to take the $ to the PD, tell them what happened and turn it in. If no one claimed it, then it would be returned to me. I'm guessing whoever it was never realized that they lost it, because a week or so later, I went back to check if anyone had reported it as being lost and the PD gave me the $ back. I held onto it for several months, expecting that I would get a call and the PD tell me that someone finally came in, but I never heard anything.
My father-in-law saw a bike out by the road in a trash pile a few months back. He stopped and asked the people living at the house if they were throwing the bike away, and if so, if he could get it. They told him to take whatever he wanted...they had just moved in the house and had cleaned out the garage. He was telling us about it one night at dinner and showed us. The bike was a Cannondale mountain bike that was a couple of years old. I asked him if he knew what he had gotten and told him to look the bike up and see what it originally cost. He looked it up and it was right at $2500 when new. He also picked up several battery powered Dewalt drills and chargers that the people had thrown out. He got a new battery to see if they all worked and there was nothing wrong with any of them.

Found a 6ft aluminum level laying in the road. Waited a few minutes to see if the owner returned and they didn't. One morning going turkey hunting I am hauling arse and suddenly my headlights hit an entire turkey flock standing in the road. I dang near hit the ditch avoiding them. Turns out someone lost their turkey decoys. While out walking I found a mary jane dugout laying on the side of the road. Filled to the brim too.
