Social conservatories are still looking for a strong Republican candidate. Obama has set himself up for defeat, just like Carter did when Regan crushed him. That's the problem I see with this election. Carter was an incumbent President in a recession and Regan destroyed him in the election.
Obama is an incumbent President in a recession type economy and he is about tied with all the Republican candidates. That spells trouble. The problem here is a complete lack of any common sense. He is tied or leading the republican candidates. For the life of me I don't understand what these people see in him as a president. I'm of the show me mentality. So show me one positive thing he has done for the country.

Another mans opinion on Newt! The Big Story, By Joe Conason
Did Big Pharma Hire Gingrich To Back George W. Bush's Medicare Drug Bill?
To look closely at Newt Gingrich is to see a failed statesman who pocketed tens of millions of dollars by exploiting his political celebrity and government connections over the past decade or so. Although the former Speaker never registered as a lobbyist, the corporations that financed his "for-profit" think-tank and his consulting firm weren't simply dazzled by his intellect.
But Gingrich's buckraking may not be as troubling to GOP voters as what he helped his corporate masters to achieve on Capitol Hill. Having taken large fees from major drug companies as well as PhRMA, the industry lobbying group, he now stands accused -- by conservatives -- of pushing the Bush administration's Medicare drug benefit, a measure often denounced by the Republican right whose support he is now courting.

I would say at the moment he is supporting the "Payroll Tax Holiday". Middle-class families could face an average of $1,000 tax increase if the tax cut expires on schedule at the end of the year.

Do you remember that Newt wanted everyone who made more than $50,000 per year to have health insurance or post a large bond. Sounds a lot ike universal health care. Newt also supported and worked towards carbon caps. Sounds a lot like our Presidents agendas to me. How can anyone respect a man who leaves his terminally ill wife for a younger woman???

The rest of what you said is true, but the part of him leaving the wife as you stated has been proven false. His own daughter has support his stance on this.

What I heard that wasn't true was that he gave her divorce papers on her death bed.

Thomcat, I see you only have three posts so I assume you are new. If that is the case then I'll let you know how we operate around here. We are talking politics and there are liberals in the conversation. When this is the case then facts are not allowed since that disrupts their political agenda and their feelings get hurt.
Don't let it happen again or else we will be forced to put in in Aldeer timeout.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

Jawbone, sarcasm in truth tickles my toes. Nice to meet you, Buddy. WarEagle. We will also pull your man card with any talk of "tickled toes".

I just want to say that the 'terminally ill' woman that wanted a divorce from Newt did not die. She is still alive. Is this the same wife he was married to when he violated his oath to be faithful to her?
