Jason Simpson of Channel 19 just put out a prediction map.... his prediction is 4-8" for North Alabama but the model is showing 8-10" in various places with Selma/Tuscaloosa area getting upwards of 15" over the next 2 weeks.

I saw where James Spann said it was the wettest meteorological winter on record (125 years) for the state of Alabama. Just wondering how much more we can take before some of those folks down stream start losing houses and such. Also with it getting into tornado season, just a few good winds will be blowing trees over left and right with the ground as saturated as it is. It would be nice to get just 10 days or so of consecutive sunshine.

Yeah damn rivers already nearing 78 (at Millers ferry) again SMDH. And it while it may not be making the news, there's plenty of homes/camps flooded down here in lower Bama, and looks like they'll be flooding again once this makes it's way down.

Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

One inch of rain falling on 1 acre of ground is equal to about 27,154 gallons and weighs about 113 tons. So if just Tuscaloosa got 15 inches and that was it you're looking at

27,154 (gallons) x 15 (inches) x 42,700 (acres) = 17,392,137,000 gallons of water coming downstream.

Now imagine spreading that for all the rain we're going to see over the area...… that's a lot of dad gum water

here's something new...a wather guy saying things like

modeling the atmosphere is incredibly difficult
It's probably not 'right,'
last week and whiffed wildly
positioning on the map is unsure

Claiborne should hit 52' right after lunch tomorrow. That's 185 KCFS.

185,000 x 7.48 Gal/CF = 1,383,000 Gallons per second x 8640 Seconds/Day = 119,560,320,000 Gal/Day

"Cull" is just another four letter word...

Yep. A bunch of them along the southern Tombigbee, Alabama and delta area had water in them.

He posted the GFS 14 day model total precipitation output, and something like screw the GFS. That’s just one model anyway that is crap day 7-14. The QPF 7 day output is showing about 2 inches for Huntsville, and less as you go south. That QPF output can be pretty dang good sometimes. These rivers down here can’t handle any more big rains upstream. Been trying to work on a big tract that joins the Cahaba in Perry, and it’s crazy what the water has done there. Need scuba gear to look at timber.

We'd better hope that the engineers who designed the earthen portions of dams on our rivers got it right back in the day.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
