So where is the dividing line of valuing by ton vs board feet? Tennessee? Kentucky?

I guess you're talking hardwood , must be somewhere around Birmingham . Up here and points North hardwood is king and it's sold by grade and board feet.

Dang, poles have dropped considerably. Thought we sold for mid 60's last fall. Class 1's though.

The pine paper wood I sold last fall was $10/ton. Small tract but the logger needed a couple days work between tracts.

[quote=BradB]So the question is how close was Timbermart to the price you actually got?

It was pretty darn close at the time. My proximity to the mill and ease of access to the timber also helped. Net for me was slightly less since I went through a forester who managed the timber sale process and oversaw the cutting for me.

Those prices are strong for my area except for the poles.
You couldn’t give pine pulpwood away last fall (before the rain).

Yeah, $11/Ton for pulp is great I'm in SE Bama and thats about the best I have heard of in a while.I got that on a small tract 3 years ago but it was a total fluke.Basically a gift from good friend. Most of what I have sold was around $9/Ton

Yeah the 5 month monsoon rains have caused prices to go up a lot since I cut in October.
