Roundabouts can move a significant number of cars through an intersection without backing traffic up. I’ve been driving through them for years in other countries and states. The problem isn’t the roundabout. It’s the idiot drivers.

If you drive a queer prius, they're great. If you drive a man's truck , or pull a trailer, they are stupid as hell.

What is sad is they had a good working red light. And I didn’t notice that it really notice it slowing traffic that bad. And the way it is now it’s kills easy access to one store and if you are coming out of the water board from paying you bill you are at the edge of the circle. Obviously truck drivers don’t understand it either because the one in front of me this morning made a left turn once he got to where you enter the circle

If I understand it correctly, there was federal funds there available for a round about. The next one I hear is coming to the 4 way in Springville. They wouldn’t give them funds for a red light, but they could capture funds for a round about.

I’ve been through them in other countries as well. That’s fine for small vehicle traffic the 18 wheelers that run this daily are going to catch hell dealing with it. This particular wasn’t slammed with traffic all day long. This wasn’t 280 type traffic

The ones they put in in Mobile county work great. Plenty of room even pulling a 24 ft bay boat with a crew cab Cheby. Don't know about a log truck, never drove one.

Another rant on this I made the complete circle from south to north to go east to get to the shell station. The way they have it set up now the shell store and hardware stop is where you can’t enter back onto the highway. I saw a deputy there and asked what suppose to be the legal way to leave the store and he said hell if I know I’m as confused with it as you are. If you couldn’t circle behind the store to get out you would actually have to back out from the pumps. I think this cut into the business at the shell station and the hardware store.

The ones I go thru around Chattanooga work pretty well once people figure them out for the first time lol. First time I rode up on one up here I was a clueless idiot what to do lol

I went through the new one on society hill road in Auburn yesterday. Kinda meh.

The story I hears was the state wanted a turning lane, feds said they wouldnt pay for a turning lane but they would pay for a roundabout. So were getting a roundabout.

The problem was if someone was going east and turning left toward blountsville sometimes they would sit through two cycles waiting to turn, all the while the traffic behind him just sat there. Needed a turning lane bad. Maybe the roundabout will work well. Im betting the school traffic in the mornings is gona get pretty crazy.

More and more roundabouts will be installed in the future as they are cheaper to build than it is to install and maintain a light. As someone said, it is the drivers that are the problem.

If y'all haven't gotten off I-85 at the Arrowhead exit trying to get on 80 east haven't seen anything. Coblentz tractor is there and pulling a tractor you have to go down the road about a half mile to a turn around they built beside the road and go back the way you came. But I'm sure you all know this since Buckmasters office is next to Coblentz.
