Looking for a clean safe area to stop tonight and rest. We are at an Alabama Softball game and going to a UAB game tomorrow. Anywhere in between is fine.

Stay in Tuscaloosa. Or drive over to the mountain Brook Inn on 280

Have you checked the hotel across the highway from the softball field, next to Baumhowers?

I'd stay in Tuscaloosa and drive 45ish minutes Saturday for the UAB game.
If you want a hotel in B'ham, I'd recommend the Springhill Suites on 20th Street-4th Avenue, which has a parking deck. It's listed at $145 a night, though, which may be more than you want to pay.
You'd probably find something a bit less expensive at Lakeshore/I-65 interchange or, as Outback suggested, out on 280. Farther from UAB but maybe less money.

Courtyard by Marriott in the middle of UAB. This is a good, safe place. I’d personally stay on 280 somewhere though for eating options.
