The segment thread has turned into a "rut in my part of the state thread" so that got me to thinking.....

The other night I saw Chuckie on Big Deer TV talking about the opportunity to hunt the peak of the rut in Alabama from the 3rd week in November through the 2nd week February. He was selling Alabama's hunting season as a touristy commodity to outsiders..... not as a resource to the taxpayers of this state. You could just sense it in his voice and by the language he was using on the TV show. I know this isn't groundbreaking to anyone because we've all known for a while the decisions he makes aren't necessarily for us (the average Alabama hunter) but I never could put my finger on exactly what he was doing.

If he truly had our best interests in mind he would be making changes based on ground truth data for each individual area. For instance.... you are never going to convince me Winston county should be hunting for deer in February. Most bucks don't even have antlers by then. On the flip side of that you won't convince me that a lot of counties in South Alabama should open their season in October either, especially with members claiming there are fawns still dropping.

Now the CAB is discussing opening the season even earlier..... for who? Alabamians who want to see a deer herd make it long enough for our great grandkids to hunt...... or Insurance companies that want the deer eradicated or out of state-rs that want to come hunt a state that opens before theirs does.

Good post.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Chuckie gotta go... It's way past time.
He should never have been put there.
Arrogant, indignant, incompetent asshole!
