ALDOT has closed all lanes of US 231 near Lacey's Spring at/near Hill Road due to a crack caused by rain runoff.

From the reports I've gotten from friends this morning this has practically shut down Hwy 36 frown

I'd imagine 36, 67 and anything between them is a mess, and anyone living there who doesn't know about the 231 closure is wondering WTH is going on with all the traffic.

This started last year, was never properly repaired and now we have one of the most heavily traveled roads in north Alabama closed. ALDOT is competing with DCNR for ratings.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I have many employees claiming 1.5 hours to get in this morning. Normally it is only half an hour.

I might lose my mind sitting on 36 for 90 minutes. It's bad enough getting behind MeeMaw or PeePaw driving 39mph to see Myrna or going to get smokes.

I live in OXR and work on Brindlee Mtn. so thankfully my commute is reverse of the heaviest traffic through there, but yes it is a mess.

Why doesn't our governor just pass a gas tax and then she can fix all the roads.

AL 65 to Skyline had water over the road in Paint Rock Valley yesterday. It’s unbelievable with all the rivers and creeks high water up here.

I can think of probably 3 places the water was over the road in the PRV. Yall better hope they don't take as long to "fix" 231 as they took fixing I65 after the land slide.

Aldot is installing a traffic light at 36 and 67. I guess that means we're in for a long repair.

Still makes my blood boil.... all that was to get money for the port of Mobile so the politicians families could prop up their construction businesses

You can have more taxes, and crappy roads, or less taxes and crappy roads. I know which one I'd choose.

Same locally. First year hartselle went wet, they brought in an additional $450k in sales tax (think that was about the number). The only thing new i've noticed in regards to the city is the mayor is driving a nice new truck.
