Does anyone know what the bass have been biting lately at Lake Martin, I have a fishing tournament in a week and a half and I was wondering if anyone could share what they usually use while fishing there or any tips

Good luck, but I thought they had banned tournaments
on Martin.

Water is muddy on the main lake all the way to Blue Creek as of this past Sunday. With the forecast calling for more rain I wouldn't be surprised to see the water muddy all the way to the dam.

Which tournament are you fishing?I am a boat captain for my son's high school team. We have a tournament the 22nd on Martin. So far there are around 180 boats signed up. Gonna get crowded if everyone tries to find cleaner water to fish. One of the other boat captains said the lake will be up to 2 feet below full pool because of all the rain.

Tight lines,
David

I plan on being there this weekend. I have a tourney there at the end of the month. I've only been on the lake once, so I have no idea what I'm doing. Probably just sling a spinnerbait all day and cover a lot of water.

Go to Kowliga, theres clear water there. You can use anything from a jerkbait, crankbait, spinnerbait to a lizard.

You would be correct sir. Blue creek might stay fairly clear as well.

Last time I was there( was this time of the year), I was catching them in Kowliga on a Zoom swimming fluke. The 2lb plus spots love'em. Yes there will be arms of Blue that are clear, but the main creek gets muddy. I'd bet there are some main lake pockets that are pretty clear too. I was supposed to be there now fishing with a buddy, but I have an appointment that prevented me from going. Most of my favorite places for spring are null and void with all this rain and mud. May be much better in several weeks if this rain would let up.

Spinner bait, swimbait, and jerk bait. Main river points, and pockets. Should be pulling water for days to come. Ought to be some decent fishing if the end of the week cold snap don't shut them down

Thanks, do you think it would be worth bringing an umbrella rig, I was fishing there a couple of weeks back and they were chasing shad.

Super Dave, I'll see you on the 22nd. I'm a captain as well. Holler at me if you see me. I have a gray tundra and I'll be pulling an aluminum ranger. Hope to see you there.

I'm with Benjamin Russell high school. What school do you captain for? I will be in a beige metallic Honda ridgeline with a red, silver and black Nitro Z19.

Hometown advantage...Go Wildcats, graduated from BRHS in ‘95. Good luck in the tourney.
