Auburn is best when they are scoring in transition. That comes off defense but LSU was stretching the defense with their perimeter shooting in the first half and Auburn played as poorly , defensively, in the first half as I've seen all year. Auburn's offense would be much better if McCormick could dribble penetrate and find the bigs slashing to the basket but he makes too many poor decisions in traffic so they are forced into bad shots with the clock winding down far too often. McCormick could take a lesson from May's at LSU on how to play the point. Pearl is doing some of his best coaching with what he has to work with though and Auburn is lucky to have him.

Lots of great young talent on that team too.

McCormick isn’t the player Harper was. His FT% is a problem...but he’s pretty solid. Don’t know that it makes sense to be hard on him after a game that he scored 23 in, and was 1 assist and 1 rebound from a triple-double.

Simply put, this team is not as good as last year’s, at least not yet. Way too inconsistent, but they are young so you can expect them to keep getting better. They might be a force to be reckoned with come tourney time.

Coming into this game he was shooting 56% from the free throw line. He was shooting 38% from the field and 29% from the 3 point line. He comes into the game and starts putting up 3s like he's Steph Curry but making them like he's Shaq. He helped put his team in a hole with bad shot selection but luckily made plays down the stretch to help get the win. He gets credit for coming up big when it counted but if he doesn't improve significantly he'll be a liability in March. If you can't trust your point guard to bring the ball up during crunch time because he can't make free throws and the other team knows it , it puts your team in a bad spot in close games. He's obviously the best option Auburn has or Pearl would be playing someone else so I'll be pulling for him
to improve and prove me wrong down the stretch.

I agree with all of that. Our FT shooting as a team is awful...probably the most frustrating thing for me to watch. Bruce doesn’t mind them launching 3’s. He wants them to be aggressive, and pretty much lives and dies by a couple killer runs in every game. They’re rough on your blood pressure, but I like their obvious belief that they can always come back. I don’t know how anyone can’t like Bruce. Nothing in my lifetime has made such a positive change on AU athletics.

They aren't young at all. All but Okoro , among the starters , are seniors. Even McCormick is a senior. They are one of the most experienced teams in the whole country.

I think he means the youngsters that get a ton of time off the bench. Like Okoro Cambridge and Flanagan to name a few.

Great win. LSU is a really good team imo
