Reading the first post has got me confused, can you not just show your pistol liscence and still get the gun with no “background” check? When I purchased mine at Simmons in December I had my pistol permit out and the salesman said they couldn't use it anymore....had to fill out paperwork for him to call it in. You can thank some Alabama Sheriff's for that man, they really screwed us on that deal smdh. Funny how that's just went away 🤔 Cause i sure wouldn't put their azzes back in office.....

Do you currently have or have you had a DOD or NRC security clearance in the timeline that you've been delayed? That used to delay me and I finally went thru the process to find out why. The FBI didn't even honor their own guidelines as set forth on their document to tell me why. They just called me and said I should not be delayed any more and, to date, I have not been. That was 25 years ago I reckon. I had a TS clearance. The salesman mentioned that could be the reason. I'll probably do the VAF and be done with it.
Enjoy your freedom, while it lasts.

Like Perch's britches, Depends....how long are you being delayed? The Feds can only legally delay three days but the FFL can hold longer if they desire. You have to get a fingerprint card with a VAF. Do you have a common name (besides Southpaw?)? I sometimes get delayed sometimes not. If it's running into months then I would, otherwise, I wouldn't sweat it. Yeah Walmart and Academy will hold until they get a proceed.

I wondered how long this would take to set in being you can renew your CCP for multiple years now The length of time the permit was good for was not the problem. The actual law states the permit has to renewed at least every 5 years. The problem was some sheriffs were not following the state law requiring them to run a NICS background check prior to issuing or renewing a permit. Their failure to do so allowed convicted felons to et a permit and purchase guns. The sheriffs will be the first to piss and moan about how the permit is their way to help fight crime when talk of getting rid of the requirement to have one to carry concealed or in your car comes up, but then they turn right around and don't follow the law to issue them.

" Do you have a common name (besides Southpaw?)? I sometimes get delayed sometimes not. " Yeah, I can understand that Soalaturkys, with a name like ELMER FUDD, you should get checked often ! Of course you could change to something goofy like Chuck !
