Heading to the farm Friday for the weekend to hunt. Anyone hunting Montgomery county/Bullock county and seeing rut activity? Hoping the weather turns good and we have a good hunt.

We have been seeing small bucks show signs of rutting but nothing from the big boys yet. Should get started by Sunday I hope With colder weather coming in here.

Starting to see more mature bucks slip up on cams during daylight the past few days. Next week should be good if it’ll dry out. My property will be under water for the next few days.

If I had to pick one day a year to kill a buck in Bullock county, it would be MLK day.

Thanks for the updates guys. Well I will post updates this weekend here if we see anything worthwhile. MLK weekend is normally good to us. Hoping it continues.

I'm in Macon county. Cornered up ath the bullock Montgomery county lines. We are seeing the same as Muzzie is. Next week ought to be good with the colder temps that are forecast.

I don’t know if I’ll get there, but I’m sure by lunch I’ll talk myself into driving 3 hrs to get there

I hunt in South Montgomery County and this weekend you better have your head on a swivel. It will be good and only get better till the end of the season. Good luck!

Yeah - Sunday though Wednesday should be the best days of the year so far.
Can't wait.

Hunted Pike Road this morning and had two hot doe with 4 bucks chasing them in out of wood line. Had a nice 8 point coming right down a path to me and he got within 17yds, just two more steps and he is dead. Just my luck, one of the doe pops out and he turns and all I can do is watch him.

Went this morning and saw some small bucks cruising with their nose in the air, I’m behind sikes and Kahn. Mirrors what happens every year. I saw some nice tracks running the roads but I believe we are still two weeks out.

Update, went this afternoon and the spikes and fork horns were running the does wide open. This cold snap coming in next week could have some big boys up and moving. Next week on you need to be in the woods.

Late to post but I have been busy traveling.

We saw lots of younger bucks running behind does. Rattling was bringing in the smaller bucks almost immediately. My buddy called in 1 mature deer in the stand but he caught his wind and eased off before he could get his gun up. He also bumped a mature buck pushing a doe in the woods on his way out of the stand at noon. I called in one mature buck but passed because I didn't want to end my season yet with that specific deer. One buddy killed his first buck (165lb 8 point) so he was happy. Last buddy saw 3 mature deer in clear-cuts but was unable to get a clean shot, they were not chasing does just moving through. If the wind would have died down I think it would have been a much better weekend for us.
