I'm looking at new trucks and going back and forth between the opposite ends of the spectrum and just can't make my mind up.

First off, I won't and never will buy a Ford. I know a lot of people swear by them but I've had two and they just can't handle the stuff I put my trucks through, especially their front ends. The only other brands I would even remotely consider outside Chevy/GMC is a Toyota Tacoma or a Dodge 2500.

Looking at Chevy/GMC 2500/HD or Colorado/Canyon. Like I said it's two totally different ends of the spectrum but both have their pros/cons.

I'm off-road every weekend and drive 3 hours round trip with a 4-wheeler in the back of my truck. I use a truck how they're supposed to be used also. I don't baby them.... i'll have them down trails, bouncing off trees, in mud, hauling, etc. Three times a year tops I pull my FIL 26hp Kubota but that's about it for heavy hauling. I am a bit of a speed demon so little tough on the brakes and suspension. I also keep the maintenance on them 100%, no questions, Mobil 1.

I know the HD will give me a beefier suspension, better frame, better hauling capability BUT I'm biting off a good bit more on price (~$15k). Just not sure if its worth it.

The Canyon has a much tighter turning radius which I like, it will be able to get down a few more trails that my full size trucks can't get down currently and its much cheaper. I'm really concerned about pulling that tractor with it. Specs say I shouldn't have a problem but I just don't trust it. Would really like to hear if anyone has ever pulled a tractor with one of those (Canyon/Colorado/Tacoma/Ranger) smaller sized trucks with no problem? Thanks in advance.

I pulled it with my 1500 just fine, plus I'm not made of money, geesh. I work for other people and pay taxes.

Isn't GM putting diesel engines in some of the Canyons/Colorados? If so, split the difference and get one of those.

Ask yourself this. Yes it will haul it but will it stop it? I think a lot of people that occasionally pull trailers don't take stopping power in consideration as much as towing .

As someone that has driven 3/4 or one ton diesel trucks the majority of my working and playing life, plus pulled heavy loads across the South. There is no greater feeling than getting on the wide open road and hearing that turbo winding down after take off pulling a trailer and you never even know it's back there. Crank up some good tunes and not stress about the drive ahead. You can't do that when it ain't sure about the performance of the truck you are driving.

Ain't no damn way I'd buy a new truck. I could buy one today, I could drive over to stokes and buy anything on the lot right now. But damn if I'll do it. There's overpriced junk, and then there's pure phucking rape. And I'm not paying for either.

i had a 2016 Ram 2500 cummins. At 44,000 miles I was already needing new ball joints in the front end. I traded in for 19 F250. So far Ford seems better built than that ram I had. But the Ram was a tradesman and the Ford is a lariat. A buddy of mine knows a guy that uses HD rams for hot shot trucks he says as soon as he gets one he puts MOOG ball joints in them as the factories are croup.

I’ve been pulling my 30hp Kubota cab tractor with loader and disc or bush hog on a 20 foot trailer with my 2007 Tacoma with not a single issue for 4 years now. The gross load is around 7Klbs. It’s 3 1/2 hours one way to my lease and I only stop for gas when I make that trip. I had brakes put on both trailer axles when I ordered it. Nothing else special or out of the ordinary.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

I didn’t know trucks were supposed to be bounced off of trees going down woods roads/trails. Learn something new everyday, I guess. I’d hate to see the spots that you brought the 4-wheeler to use to go down. 😂

I drive 20 year old pristine trucks in excellent shape, because I keep them that way.
I don't pay one thin dime in payments to any phucking body. And I refuse to be raped by union controlled auto companies with a bunch of overpriced junk.

You buy those trucks new? How old were you when you did that? What non-union brand are they?

Why not a 1500? No way I’d pull a tractor with a Colorado/Canyon. A diesel is fun and all but unless you are hauling a bobcat or heavy stuff Frequently there really is no reason for one outside of it being cool. 1500s handle better and they aren’t so heavy that they are going to sink in every hay field you drive on after a good rain. My dad has a 2015 duramax and it costs him dang near $100 every time he has to fill up. But out of the 2 the duramax gets my vote!
