I'm 52 and still hunt public land and climb. I use a Summit Viper. There are climbers that are lighter but the trade off in comfort isn't worth it. I bought a game cart and strap the climber to it for walks longer than a few hundred yards. Best $79 I've ever spent.

I'm 68 and have climbed once this year in my summit viper. I had a double bypass in 2003 at 52 years and was able to climb in about 6 weeks in the viper. .

I do a little bit of it all.I still use a Warren Sweatt rifleman stand.I don't climb as high as I use to though. At 59, it's a bit more work to go up & down a tree nowadays.
I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

Grad, that’s the best stand I ever used. Only once, many years, but light and comfortable ...

I am 56 and have had three back surgeries and I climb with a summit titan. I can sit about five hours with no issues. Sometimes my feet will bother me due to neuropathy. The titan is comfortable and not to heavy to pack into the woods.

The Porta Climb Cadillac is absolutely the perfect climber for a broken old man. I still sometimes use my grand Ol Man climber, but the Porta Climb is my go-to favorite.

I bought a game cart and strap the climber to it for walks longer than a few hundred yards I do the same thing. Lock it to a tree about half to three quarters of the way to where I`m going. But I`m also walking a mile most of the time.

57 yoa, 6', 190-ish, and in reasonable good shape. I use my climber fairly often, even though I haven't been deer hunting in years! I have several large pines in the yard that are in the process of being pruned/removed. Prior to removing them, I always limb them as high as possible or practical to make it easier to clean up and easier to determine exactly which way the trunk falls...I limb them out of my climber.

I’m 43, and gave up climbing years ago. I’m not hunting to feed my family. I am the sole provider for my family. A 20 foot fall from a climber could bring major hardships on my wife and son. It’s a risk management thing. It’s not worth it.

Not a possibility. Practicing 100% tie-off, a fall of about 6’ is the longest I can make. Anyone who hunts from a tree...6 ft or 50 ft, doesn’t matter...without fall protection is not only breaking the law but also showing themselves to be simply not very bright.

I would never climb without a harness but I think the law only requires hunters to wear one on state owned land.

I’m living life just fine. I also didn’t mention this either. I’m 6’4” 300lbs. I still have a climber and I’m not above using it. I have always found climbers to be uncomfortable and awkward. I hunt because I enjoy it. If I’m uncomfortable I won’t enjoy it. I also work a lot of crazy hours. So I have to be able to hunt no matter the weather. Now I hunt with my son. So the box stands work best. Hunting is passion that I work hard for all year to be able to enjoy. I take enough risks in my day to day life at work, no need to run the risk on killing myself doing something I enjoy.

I'm 62 and I simply choose to not climb. I could but it would be strenuous. I don't because I can kill deer from shooting houses or sitting on a cushion at the base of a tree.
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

55 and I climb 75% of the time. Still like to get about 30 feet up a tree. Use Ol Man and Summits. Only time I don't is if I am the only person on the lease, or I have to get home and want to save a little time not fooling with a climber. At some point I will not want climb or the height will bother me but not yet. My Dad quit climbing at 73, and his triple bypass and valve replacement have relegated him to ladders and houses. He bought a stealth cart and has a drape he puts over it and makes a blind. Some day I will have to hunt with him again, like he did with me when I was learning. As long as he has the get up and go, I will take him. He introduced me to what has become the most enjoyable hobby I have.
