Use mine in ground blinds during cold weather and have never been busted by a deer because of it. When you get older comfort means more than a deer smelling you
When I need expert advice I tend to talk to myself The older I get the better I used to be

It is critical to hunt the wind with or without one. Which is impossible in the south.
My opinions and comments are my own. They do not reflect the position or political opinions of Aldeer or any of the Aldeer administration.

I agree with you gotta play the wind regardless. I use one of these in the permanent blind. It's cheaper, has lasted for years, and after it cools you can slip a gallon size freezer/storage bag over it to keep the crap out of it. I just leave it attached to the cylinder and covered all summer in the blind. Got it from Academy Sport IIRC.

Used this to heat ground blinds in Nebraska in January (really effing cold) on a number of occasions. Shot a lot of deer using that setup and haven't had any issues getting winded. At least not that we're aware of... Keep in mind this was on private land on a river in Nebraska. In other words, more deer than you can shake a stick at.

I have used the buddy heater many times. Nothing like it to keep a shooting house warm in the winter.

I use them routinely with the kids in houses. It really makes a difference for them when we finally get good cold weather. Makes it more enjoyable for the young kids

Always love this conversation. Aldeer preaches scent control to the max until it's time to break the out buddy heater then it's you were gonna get busted anyhow so might as well stay warm. Now with the kids I understand. I've never claimed to practice scent control. All I do is check the wind before i hunt
