Recently I was involved in one of the best outdoor programs I have had the privilege to be a part of. You guys certainly know that as a society we have forsaken our obligations of teaching others the old cherished traditions of our forefathers. A great many of us on this forum will, and do teach the ways of the outdoors, however there are lots of folks that are hungry for this information, literally, and don't know where to start. Well they were fed a great deal of it on this hunt. The Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries folks that run this program are just like most of us. They want to see others be successful. They didn't disappoint. They put forth every effort in the success of each person that is chosen to be mentored. The people that sign up for this program are vetted and must show they have the ability to be able to follow the hunter education guidelines, and they also are taken to the range more than once to familiarize themselves with a .243. If folks have their own rifle, they can use it if they choose. We took these guys and gals out to a place the state owns. We couldn't tell them enough knowledge about deer. It was like giving water to a sponge. They soaked it up. It was a pleasure for me to share what I know about hunting to these folks, as it was a pleasure for everyone else there to do the same. In the afternoon, it was time to hit the stands. Lots of people saw deer. One guy got one. If y'all would just look at the pic of that deer being cleaned you'll see just how interested these folks are. It was an experience I'll never forget. If anyone is just getting into hunting, wants to learn how to hunt, what deer do, how to clean and cook deer meat, and be a great steward of the land, this is the first step I recommend. After the hunt, if you ever need any questions answered from any of these guys they are only one phone call away. I was just awed at how well ran this program is, and what the guys that run it actually do. There's no hunting club out there that puts forth the effort in the land, setting up stands, and gathering data that these guys do. When you sign up for this program, the number one mission of the folk's mentoring you is to teach you how to be a smart, ethical, and successful hunter. Seeing this first hand has opened my eyes. Wow!! Looks like so much fun! I wish I would have known about this because this is something I have been really wanting to do. I didnโt grow up down here or in the woods for that matter but I have a passion to be outdoors and hunt. I also have 3 young boys that I want to afford the opportunity to grow up hunting and teach them the ways. Itโs hard to teach someone if you donโt know how to do it yourself. I am in south Baldwin county area and am wondering if there will be anymore hunts like this for this season? I will definitely sign up for next years hunt though. This looks so cool and I want to say thank you to this responsible for this! People want to know this type of information and itโs great that people are willing to teach!

Kbrew they are full this season, but definitely sign up next season. You'll have to attend a workshop at the shooting range on the upper delta, which you'll learn a great deal even if you thought you knew it all.
