I use a "muddy" brand pull up rope this year. Has a rubber coated wire twist tie on one end and is made of some sort of wide type Paracord that won't tangle. Seriously, you gotta work to get that thing to knot up on you. I used to use paracord with a carabineer, but I spent more time untangling and cursing it in the dark than I did pulling up anything.

Thirdhand archery pull up rope. Great little rope for a good price. Look it up and watch it in use

Walmart special. I bought on sale a few years ago for 2.99, 25ft with carabiners on each end.

I use braided camo cord with a loop and a rope cinch device (can't remember the name of it) on the end. Put gun barrel through loop and puul it to the stock end. Bring rope around handle on stock and cinch tight. This allows me to raise and lower my rifle with barrel pointed down and have good control of the weapon. I have attached a plastic boat cleat to all of my climbers and keep about 35 ft of rope on all of my stands.

Bingo. That's exactly what I use. That is in the top 3 most important pieces of hunting gear I got next to stand and bow/gun. I'd rather forget anything else back at the truck than that lifesaver of an accessory

This close thread .
Cost 30 bucks worth twice that. It stays clipped on my safety harness 24-7 .no fumbling with cords or rope , and makes me wear my harness everytime .

grin

That reminds me of a buddy who has some 1.25" white rope that we have never been able to break. Pulled out dozens of trucks and even a few large tractors (100+hp). Rope doesnt strech or fray.

Came from a buddy of his who is a commercial fisherman in the Atlantic. They use it to pull up the nets. His friend gave him a 1/4 mile section of it they had replaced.

Dont know what it is made of but it sure is strong.

Ya'll just sold me on the Doyle's Huntin' Hoist. I've had enough of paracord and the tangles that come with it!

The hoist is the way to go, you will love it. Durable product that has not worn out in 10 years or more of usage. My only tip is to get you some gloves with good grips in the palms if you're pulling up your weapon plus a heavy backpack, or clothes, etc. Otherwise you'll end up having to bare-hand it which hurts like hell or have the rope go slipping through your gloves if they're too slick.

I use a 30’ dog lead. It’s flat but about 1/2 wide with a clip on the end. Get it at the pet store. The reason is it doesn’t knot up or kink. It’s a little bulky but I like it.
