Glad to see folks exercising and improving themselves instead of being fatasses bitching about other people.

Even if they are a weirdo cult.

my sister is a personal trainer bro in law is in sports medicine theyll both tell you cross fit is the cause of more injury than anything. you get a bunch of people basically just swinging around weight with no attention to form it is a recipe for joint and muscle injuries. it might be a fun way to work out but its hard on your body.

No doubt! When someone I work with says they are about to start, I always tell them to get a good divorce attorney.

What in the hell are y'all talking about? I've known a bunch of folks who've done crossfit. Most got some orthopedic injury, but don't know one who got divorced.

I know of several families destroyed because of a relationship that started in crossfit. And I know of others that got a personal trainer and had an affair that busted up even more families.
Kudos to anyone who makes it a priority to eat right and stay fit.
I am not wired to be part of groupie workout clubs. I don't care if it is cycling, crossfit, or regular gym rats. It is just not my thing.

My guess is that getting sweaty with really good looking people of the opposite sex, is a recipe for disaster for a married man or woman.

I’m not opposed to CrossFit if done right, but it’s so damn expensive. I’m not paying $300/month for my wife and me when a gym membership is $70/month,

Sounds like character flaws of people, and not a flaw of a workout routine?

Ill continue to eat right and get moderate exercise.

Just come spend a day with me. You won't need to flip tires or lift heavy things.
I won't even charge you for it. I'll let you do it for free.

A lot of folks have the wrong impression of what CrossFit is or what they do. Maybe not all gyms but I know the one I go to is very faith based and does a lot to give back to those in need. There’s scriptures on our walls and the owner never misses a chance to pray when a group is gathered. That’s a big part of why I enjoy it. Infidelity is everywhere sadly but from my own standpoint it’s strengthened my relationship even more with my wife and I’m sure others could say the same. I credit this again to being a godly place with godly people. You build bonds with these people and I guess that’s why some call it a cult. It’s an addicting sport if you have any competitive bones about you.

Last year I had 4 bulging discs in my back and since starting this my back is stronger than it was 10 years ago. It’s honestly not a lot of heavy lifting.
I was as big of a skeptic of it as there was before but it’s been great for us thus far.

I started CrossFit in Oct of 2017, absolutely love it. I'm 45 yrs old, and haven't done any lifting since the piddlin' stuff we did in high school. I'm not especially muscular either, I was a runner for 10 years, so the aerobic parts of it are easy for me. But I have to scale the lifting portions, and then there are some things I simply am not capable of doing (either not strong enough, flexible enough, or both). I cannot do overhead squats to save my life....I can snatch decent weight overhead, but I do not have the shoulder or ankle flexibility to squat with it.

There is NOTHING dangerous about CrossFit, rather you are dangerous to YOURSELF. If I tried to do 5 rounds of 15 power snatches at 125 pounds, I would destroy something in my shoulders.... I know better, so I don't do it! Not everybody does though, and there's peer pressure to perform. You've got to be man enough to walk away, to just laugh at yourself and say "Ain't no way I'm doing that." So I drop down the weight (honestly, maybe 75 lbs) and/or scale down the reps.

Now I had inguinal hernia surgery last September, most likely caused by something at CrossFit, but I never felt it or have a clue how/when it happened. I started back in Dec/Jan, and somehow busted that surgery open again (however, I think I did it dragging a deer out, not CrossFit). So I had surgery again in March. I started back in July, and went two months feeling really good, but in early September I started having pain on my surgery spot. It's not reinjured, we assume it's just chronic mesh pain. I haven't gone since the end of August, but I plan on starting back tomorrow (Nov 1st) and only doing the "conditioning/fitness" WODs for a while.

My doctor told me I would've had that hernia from anything, I had a "weak floor" and was susceptible to them anyway (very thin wall in my inguinal tube, usually a birth defect)

My fiancé does crossfit...they can be some strange people. I guess it depends on the gym. Some are very encouraging and people get along well. Others are back stabbing and very "cult" like and really just in it for money. She enjoys it and it helps stay healthy. Most of the different places she has gone seem to have lots of relationship issues but that can be true anyways. Character flaws. If you enjoy it then go for it. I remember when exercise was just exercise. No competition involved. I've never seen people that are so prideful in ripping the skin on their hands but different strokes I guess.
