Hey guys saw this story on our local news website and thought I would pass it along. Fortunately for this guy, he survived being shot by birdshot. Just a reminder to be safe in the woods and identify your target before you shoot!!!!

How do you ever mistake a human for an animal??? SMH.

Yep there is no excuse whatsoever. That boy ought to have his license suspended until he retakes the hunter education course. The sad part is he has already taken it. True, more people die from lightning strikes on golf courses every year than hunting accidents but you don't hear about too many lightning strike deaths. Every hunting accident is spread around by the news media like wildfire in a 50mph wind.

The news said he shot at 5:20. Pretty darn dark at 5:20 where I live and I am further west than they are. Lucky it was a 20ga with bird shot.

This story rings of BS to me. Coyote hunting with a 20ga and birdshot? Come on.

As I say every time, there is no excuse whatsoever for shooting someone while hunting, if you really were hunting to begin with. There is a huge difference in getting peppered on a dove field 100 yds away and being shot practically point blank. There should be some sort of criminal negligence charges for folks when this crap happens.

I was thinking the same thing about the birdshot!! He was probably squirrel hunting and saw something moving and took a shot not knowing what it was.
