Sounds like you're pretty set for youth season. Some folks would say you're starting them too late.

Soak it up man! One minute they are holding your hand, marveling at a deer track. Then, you turn around twice and they are away at college. You're doing it right!

1. Get my 8yo son his first bow kill (crossbow)
2. My 3yo daughter has put in that she wants to go hunting too. So take her as much as she wants
3. My 8yo boy has killed a couple nice 3yo's. See if I can get him on a mature buck this year. But he still gets one "any" buck.
4. I have not personally shot a buck to mount in several years now. (bloodied one up last year). Maybe shoot a stud for myself this year.
5. Hopefully my wife will want to hunt some this year. I would love for her to kill a mature buck too. Her last one was 12 years ago, right before we got married.
6. Shoot a hog with my .45.

1. Get all my projects on property completed before opening weekend of rifle and enjoy the rest of the season.
2. Hunt as much as possible with my kids
3. Hunt as much as possible with my dad

Have fun. Enjoy however much time I get to go.

I am mostly a duck and turkey hunter, so my deer hunting goals are probably a little different.
1: Keep the poachers and road hunters in check
2: Put my son on as many deer as he wants to shoot
3. Plant enough and big enough greenfields that they don't look like putting greens
4: Enjoy some time in the stand without worrying about bumping the safety

Hopefully get to hunt this year! I didn't get to last year!

- see more deer than I did last year (I've only "put eyes on" 3 deer the last 2 seasons combined...so that shouldn't be hard to do)

- both kids see a deer while hunting (they've seen deer on the side of the road and in Cades Cove, but never while hunting)

- put at least 1 in the freezer....don't even really if it's a buck or doe, other than buck = more meat

...I'm easy to please

I don't kill much anymore. I get more enjoyment from maintaining the land we have and seeing the happiness in others faces when they take one of the deer I helped grow. We've got a few guys inn our "club" that are aging, had polio and it 's tough for them to hunt. Passing on a 5 year old deer and sending them to that stand and them taking it......... It doesn't get any better than that.

Wow, I thought I had a bad few seasons..... you must be hunting north alabama for sure

Believe it or not, that was in Greene County, just north of the interstate...which I'm told on paper is supposed to be primo.

Since this is my first deer season in Alabama, I'll be hunting heavily pressured public land, and I hunt exclusively with a traditional muzzleloader, any deer in the freezer will exceed expectations.

To not shart my pants.

Hunt with my boys as much as possible. Still hunt hard and climb trees even though I am now 50. Every deer season is a gift. Memories are always made.

Go as much as I can, which will be just about every afternoon.
Do my best not to talk myself out of it, like I normally do and actually kill a doe for the freezer
Kill a 140+ buck or one with a drop tine
