If you can read some of the posts on here, you’d be able to interpret Chief: The Autobiography of Phillip Martin.

He was one helluva man that genuinely cared for his people. Really left his tribe better off than when he started.

Anything written by Louis L Amour is good. All of the Sackett series is worth reading and maybe rereading.

I haven't read this one yet but I ordered it a few moments ago.

Shogun by James Clavel is good too.

Also I really enjoyed the Gonji series about a Samurai warrior in Feudal Europe. Great series of books.

Shogun was a great read and I looked forward to the miniseries until they cast Perchjerkers favorite actor Richard Chamberlain in the lead role..,

I'm gonna assume that you have already read the Bible. smile

And you are probably familiar with the more popular Christian books, so I will give you one that I think you should read as a citizen of AL "The History of Alabama," by James Pickett. I trust his account of our early history because he was there for a lot of it, and his parents were there for the era before him. He wasn't concerned about being politically correct; he just presented the facts as he knew them.

A bonus book is "Rivers of History" by Harvey Jackson. His politics come through in places, but he still has a lot of great material on the history of our state as focused on the rivers and their importance before the railroad.

One Second After, as toothdoc suggested, is awesome! Highly recommend that one.

Prince of Poachers was bought for me by my gf and is entertaining but kind of hard to read as it has a lot of typos.

I enjoyed Ken Follet "pillars of the earth" religious struggles and building of cathedral set in 1100 England, its one of a three book trilogy. the books are a bit intimidating in size.

Another vote for Lee Child’s novels - Jack Reacher is well written character.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I made a list of every book on this thread and I think I'm going to just chip away at it. I started with Lone Survivor, halfway through it now. I'm basically just starting with whatever is available on Kindle. I wanted to start with A Walk Across America, but it isn't on Kindle so I ordered it.

Bronner.

I'm not a book reader. But Rick asked me if I had read it one day. Which I said no. He challenged me to read it. I went at bought it that night and read the whole thing that night. I went and bought 10-12 copies and handed them out. Truly powerful book.

I used to like a little fiction but the older I get, I find myself not finishing something I know isn't real.

If you like American Sniper, there are quite a few others in the genre that are hands down better.

* The Last Punisher: A SEAL Team Three Sniper's True Account of the Battle of Ramadi by Kevin Lacz (Chris Kyle's teammate)

* Red Platoon: A True Story of American Valor by Clinton Romesha (metal of honor recipient)

* The Operator: Firing the Shots That Killed Osama Bin Laden and My Years as a SEAL Team Warrior by Robert O'Neill

* Level Zero Hero's & Dagger 22. Both by Michael Michael Golembesky, (MASROC Marine)

True Crime Genre

* American Predator: American Predator. The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century By Maureen Callahan (Serial Killer Israel Keyes)

* I'll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer By: Michelle McNamara (The Golden State Killer)

I agree with all the L’Amour sackett titles particularly Jubal Sackett and another L’Amour to read is Last of the Breed
All of Stephen Hunters “Swagger” Novels
All of Mark Greaney “ Gray Man” Novels
