I recently bought a used Bergara b14 Ridge in 308 win. I had a tough time finding much information for hunting ammo online so i bit the bullet (pun fully intended), spent the money and tested several different loads last weekend. i had the best luck with Remington Hog Hammer 308 shooting a 168gr Barnes TSX bullet. I was getting groups just under 1".

Today i went to the CMP for the first time, shot the gun on the various ranges with a varying wind of 5-10mph from 90º left to right. i was very satisfied and was able to do a couple 1" groups at 200 and then i did an astonishing 6 shot 5" group at 600 yards. i don't consider myself much of a great shot (poor breathing on several shots, called fliers throughout the day). For a guy who is just shooting factory ammo, shooting a used gun, and with a simple 3-12 x 40 Nikon Prostaff scope, I am extremely satisfied. If you have a good opportunity on a Bergara, new or used, go for it. you will not be let down.

Hitting the target at 600yds, with a riffle you've never fired is an accomplishment. A 5" group is awesome. Was that with the 168gr remingtons?

If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H.

Good shooting and good first post. You didn't insult anyone and that's a step up from previous new posters. It's a welcome change and kind of disappointing all at the same time. grin

Your post reminds me I need to get to the range.

I've got a Bergara in 6.5 it's way more accurate than me. Unless your going full custom I think it's one of the best production guns out there.

Yes that was the remingtons, had relatively low expectations bc I’m not much of a shot, but was pleasantly surprised. Very happy with my purchase.
