It amazes me that nobody has designed a plug and go ceiling fan yet. Its always an annoying job that makes your elbows feel like rubber when your done.
Which hospital is involved?
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

It's best to hook the fan to the constant hot and the switch leg to the light. This will prolong the fan motor, and is the proper way to install it.
This is the proper way to do it imo
How about separate switches for the light and fan?
The fan motor is made to come on in the highest speed setting first. By switching it at the wall you could have the fan in low, cut it off at the wall switch, and when you turn the switch back on the fan starts back up at the low speed setting. Not good for the life of the fan.

They suck when u gotta figure out the 3 ways and I got one less than a year old nobody can figure out why it wobbles at speeds past 3
It's out of balance....should have included a kit that includes a temporary weight to clamp on the blades, then the permanent weights with double-sided tape. You clamp the weight on the blades and move it around until you find the sweet spot that balances it.......once you find which blade and where on the blade is the sweet spot, you stick the permanent weight on it and you're good to go.

They come with a balancing kit but I won’t pretend to know how to install it.
I remember as a kid when my Dad installed them in our house. He would be duck taping quarters, pennies, nickels, and dimes on the blades to try to balance those old things. I guess they have progressed to some degree, but they have a long way yet to go.

One day i was changing one out in a house i was flipping. I hit the breaker, tested the wire, and started working. Somebody had run the fan and the light to a different breaker. That’s not the only time to be hit with 110, but you can bet I always test every wire now. Never assume:
I don't do any electrical work without this tool.

Starting the fan on low could possibly cause the fan to only last 19 years, 11 months instead of 20 years
I have one on separate light , fan switches , been up and running 28 years, been on low for all those years. It only gets turned off for blade dusting or if someone turns it off by mistake.

I replaced the one on our screened in patio two weeks ago. While it was down, The Boss asked if we (meaning I) could run outdoor lights to the pergola attached to the patio. I had to go up in the attic via the garage and make my way to the back of the house. Extend myself to driill a hole and have her feed me the wire to pull back to the ceiling fan. That was the easy part. I then found out I had some how gotten wedged and now had to figure out how to do a 180 without falling through the roof. The sun was rising and so was the attic temp. I ever so slowly performed an old man magic act and managed my escape, while holding onto the drill and wiping sweat from my eyes. BTW, those headlight flashlights you can get at Rural King are worth every penny for probing around attics. So now The Boss has her party lights wired to the ceiling fan light switch. We now sit outside at night and never turn on the light underneath the ceiling fan.

I like to do electrical work, but I won't even change a damn light bulb with one of these or a volt meter. I absolutely despise getting popped. Having to test electric cattle fences with my fingers did that to me as a kid.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

I think ive installed 4 in my current house. My favorite two were in my kids rooms, they have a vaulted ceiling and the very center of ceiling is maybe 3 ft wide and has to be at least 12 ft tall. That is where the hook up for light fixture/fan is. I had to take the doors off the hinges to fit my dining room table in their room to then put an 8 ft a-frame on top of the table to install them and it still barely reached. I got to do that twice. I didn't drink near as much installing those due to the altitude.

I never really thought they were that hard to install. Use the little "wire" hook to hang it from the box while wiring it up, and install the blades after the motor is hung.
