Does anyone know anything about unit 5? I’ll be there November 9th for the youth hunt.

I had thought about the meet and greet but don’t think I’ll have time to swing by.

Found some good sign today. Saw a nice buck, 5 doe, found 3 sheds and a lost buck from last year. Looking forward to the hunt

My son and I were there. We got unit 3. Saw 1 buck and a couple does and a fawn. Found a couple spots that looked good. Was a hot day for scouting though. Lots of hills in unit 3 and a couple of creeks with some pretty good drop offs. I hate I am going to have to drive through all those other sections to get to mine but the way the roads are it's the only choice you have. Justkeep that in mind if you are planning a morning hunt on one of those fields near the road.

I didn’t get to go to the scouting day, did the food plots in general have anything growing?

I doubt they've even planted them yet. Hasn't been any rain.

Ok thanks, I don’t ever hunt them on public land but figured a real low pressure place like this it may be worthwhile to try something different.

If they are up and growing (even just a little bit) by the time you get down there to hunt you will definitely see deer on them.

Most of the plots were plowed, but the guy at the check station said he wasn't planning on planting until he knew there would be some rain... Which was interesting since it really started pouring around 5:30 that afternoon.

Unit 3 is gonna be tricky to hunt with a youth and a rifle. Decent unit for a bow hunter. Really hope they get that new plot finished and planted.

Turkey247 I can tell you a great spot to take a kid in unit 3. Found it when we were there last year. Also, that yellow jacket plot in unit 3 doesn't exist so don't waste your time walking all the way there. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you want.

They just did some dozer work trying to get a plot where that yellow jacket plot existed at one time. It’s not going to be very big, but they are trying to get one cleared and planted at that location.

I didn't get to scout 13 during the scouting day. I plan on doing a lot of walking the first afternoon. What do you think would be some good target areas to check out from the maps below? I imagine we will have a N NW wind and will be entering from that south road. I am not sure if the other roads are open or not.

If you have any food ptots, I would start at them and work towards the creeks.
