You already knock one down???
Shot a boar Saturday with my xbow. Has some nice cutters. I always wanted to try my hand at a skull mount. Just looking for some tips.

I agree. I've done a few skulls of hogs. They really need beetles at the end. I think Patton has beetles. Depending on the weight, you can ship it frozen priority mail express next day in a sealed bag and box for around $40. PM me and I can tell you the price to ship it. There's also a company in Oklahoma that does nothing but skull mounts. You ship it to them and they ship it back finished. Been thinking about doing that here. They have no competition.

40% peroxide...never bleach and for the love of God never paint. X2! Also, do whatever you can to keep the antlers out of the boiling water so it doesnt remove the natural color of them. Others may have some tricks on keeping this from happening..
If your decoy doesnt have holes in it, your not letting him get close enough... J.H.

Beetles or sitting in a cooler of warm water for about a week for hogs skulls...lots of degreasing.

Others may have some tricks on keeping this from happening.. I use a self fusing silicon/rubber tape to wrap around the bases. That has worked well for me. If the color is ever removed, I found wood stain can bring them back to a natural color.
