Didnt Chuckie say that he felt that people over 65 and disabled vets that were not buying licenses were a drain on the system and they should be forced to buy licenses too, if they hunted? Seems I remember someone posting something about him saying that at one of his initial Q&A sessions.

Clicking the box for the permit put a bad taste in my mouth. I don't hunt over bait, don't want to. But I don't have the time and money to fight a ticket I shouldn't have to fight anyway, so easiest thing is to buy the damn permit. If this money was earmarked for filling vacant GW positions, youth hunting/fishing education, etc, I wouldn't care so much. But you know it will get pissed away so they will have to implement another tax.

I can agree that people exempt from buying licenses (kids, seniors, etc) should not have to buy it

This is my whole sticking point. I don’t mind the $15 (even though it’s stupid) but there’s no way someone who’s exempt from buying a license should have to pay. Once this is taken to court by a couple of mad dads they will revise it. They already have enough bad publicity. They don’t need any more

I had mentioned in another thread that my wife sits with me 3-4 times a year. She has never hunted in her life and never bought a hunting license. I just went to the website and it appears that I will be able to buy her a bait privledge license without having a hunting license. It asked for either her license number or drivers license number.

If she decided to go this year I will buy her one because she does watch for deer so she would be assisting me. I dont use bait, but someone else might and my time is more valuable than $15. I dont want to have to leave work to go fight a bullcrap ticket.

I’m right there will y’all. I’ll be glad to pay and I’ll pay twice the cost just leave our kids and seniors out of it. Haven’t our seniors paid the machine enough. And when folks are wondering why are youth isn’t interested in hunting, it’s because part of being a kid is the joy of not being caught up in the machine. That will come soon enough as they get older.

I shared this email from the DCNR on this thread just to show that it looks like Chuckie and his department are doing all that they can do to promote the purchase of this license.

I don't like the idea of another forced fee put on us hunters for something that should be our right and I darn sure don't like them calling it a privilege!

I will buy the license for myself. It's not like I cannot afford $15.00. It's just the principle of the whole thing. I'm adamant about my dislike for an additional fee put on our kids, grandkids, 65 & older hunters and those who forked out the money for lifetime licenses.

I still say it's just a money grabbing technique being used to generate funds for the DCNR & the State and we have no idea how it will be used.

First case of CWD found in the state, there goes your $15.00, baiting will be suspended and they keep all our monies.

I would feel much better about the whole thing if it wasn't mandatory for everyone who will choose to hunt over bait, to buy a license.

Leave all of the 16 & under kids, 65 & older hunters and LTL holders out of it.

I also know that all we are doing now is getting sore finger tips but maybe our concerns will be considered in the future.

It's okay to be hopeful, right?

I believe that if you are 65 or older, combat vet, below 16, hunt your own land, with and valid license holder and are a state resident THIS CHIT SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED! More of these Ivey appointed, know more than you, do as I say, shove down your throat "legislative" rules we have to abide by. Maw-Maw, Sikes, and from what I have determined, the whole CAB system needs to go.

I guess I will be chastised for this post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, Jr. has his $5 binos watching deer or helping Dad drag out a deer and " by the book" GW writes him. If Dad doesn't have the chips to fight it , bet he could get quite a defense fund for Jr. right here.

How about someone explain this for me?

[Linked Image]

I went online to get my HIP and entered my birthday, which flips me to the over 65 page. I thought a resident over 65 wasn't charged for a license, but it appears there is now a charge. I have a lifetime, so it doesn't affect me, but did I miss them changing the law on this?

I'm with ya PCP, don't know about the others , but I thought over 65 was exempt from the "all game " and "small game" at minimum . Some one please explain .

I’m torn on buying my boy the $15 permit since he isn’t old enough to need a license. Part of me says screw ‘em; write him a ticket and lets see how well that works out in court, but on the other hand it would scare the crap out of him and I can’t put him through that.

Total doiche bag move by the state. Thanks Chuckie.
