Today, I'll talk about sounds.

Six years ago, our only son died in an auto accident. 18 months later, a young couple moved in next door. Dude was a little older than our son, but the chick was exactly the same age. Didn't go to the same school as our son, but had mutual friends. I thought this was just a coincidence.

Fast forward a few years, and they had a baby. The most awesome girl child anyone could have.

She and I have loved each other from day one. About 2 months ago, they sold out and moved.

Today, we visited them at their new house. Kinsley ( the baby ) didn't know we were coming. The ecstatic giggles when she saw me walking toward the patio were the sweetest sounds I have ever heard. The joy that this child brings cannot be put into words.

I guess I am just an old softy, but this baby melts my heart.

Nothing wrong with that. Life is speeding up on me faster than I ever expected. I’m going to more funerals than weddings. I’m getting to where I hate my closet. I know where my coat is. Life passes us by at record pace. Im having a hard time dealing with this. Harder than I ever expected. I’ll just leave it there. At one time I never hesitated on hunting trips with the guys. Now I like to stick around the house or have my kids go to the farm with me. Meh. Enough of my ramblings not a good night

Reminds me of my granddaughter at that age. Today, she’s a 6’ tall 15 year old star Basketball and Volleyball player. Her high school Volleyball team was 32-0 last year and are undefeated so far this year.

The laughter of a child is THE most beautiful sound on this earth. I'm sorry that you lost your son and proud that you have chosen to remain close with the family that brings this magic back to your heart.

I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

No one can understand until you become a parent. I been thinkin about life passin me by lately as well. A lot around me are gettin cancer and stuff. Life is very short. It seems like each day just flies by. I feel like i need to get rid of this phone and slow down and go back to the old days of boredom. I think im getting to the age where life starts taking.

I used to be made of stone until my daughter was born. It can really soften a man by holding his own baby. That was over two decades ago, now, and sometimes I wish I could go back but those days are gone forever. Time is like a river.............

Right there with you Mark. Used to have a black heart. Children and the Lord almighty softened me up.

I'm so sorry for your loss UncleHuck, I can't even imagine. Thank you for sharing!!

I used to park in our basement. When my little girl would hear me pull in, she would run to the basement door to meet me. That running across the floor sure was a beautiful sound!
