Its a good bike Gary Fisher has a lot in common with the treks. The drivetrain is pretty decent and you can upgrade as you break it. I would take off the reflectors or you will be looked at funny. The tires are good. The Suntour front fork may be alittle squishy but may work great for you. For $180 thats a good price.

The fact that I can lock it out on the road though was a biggie. Not exactly a common feature on sub-$200 bikes.

I would be happy with that bike for $200. It was likely about $1000 new .The mechanical disc brakes work fine and I think less likely to need expensive service over time.Glad you found one Gomer. Holler at me if you want to come up this way and ride sometime.

Owned a GF. It was my first MTB. Great bike from one of the pioneers in the sport. Gomer and RH. There is a movie on netflix or amazon called Klunkers. It is about how MTBing all got started. Pretty cool.

They had one for sale as I walked in Bass pro today. Only 4,000 something. I had to look twice to make sure the price was right

You sure that wasn't one of those Quiet Cat electric bikes? I dont think BP really gets into high end bikes but those in particular are marketed to hunters.
