Has anyone has reasonable success using liquid lime vs pellet or aglime? Is it better to use liquid after planting than before?

Faster reaction time with liquid.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

2.5 gals of undiluted liquid lime is equivalent to 26 lbs of actual at lime. You're going to need a really big tank to do any good

My plots are 1/4-1/2 acre. I see mixes that “say” equivalent to 1ton? Is it too late to use pellet lime on fields if planting last weekend in September?

Pellet lime, as with ag lime, is good to put down any time. Will it immediately or even in a few months give you the effects you want? No. But if your fields need lime, lime then when you can.

I asked the fellow at the co op about liquid lime. He told me that if your sample recommends 1ton/acre you would have to get that much material into the soil whether its diluted in liquid or powder form. Consider the amount of water needed to dilute a ton of powder enough to go through a sprayer nozzle. The liming substitutes that claim to work with a few gallons per acre cannot be true using this logic. Might ask 257 about it. It sounded reasonable to me.

This seems obvious to me. But people swear by it.

But it’s chelated ! Doesn’t that make it more gooder?

To heck with all of that, just go to your local Walmarks and buy a pallet of limes. Cast them out over your field and then take the disk to them. You can't beat the real thing.

If liquid lime worked I promise y’all farmers woulda swapped to it looong time ago. It’s an incredibly slow high volume process putting out lime. We’d much rather send a sprayer across a filed with 100’ booms running 15mph spraying lime then spreading 40’ pass running out very 15 minutes.

I agree with ya 257. If you go ahead and get the lime in now you would be just fine. I am liming our fields in two weeks. Our land is a sandy loam. It will all leach out by december, which is when i will spread some more out. I may mix corn with it this year though since I'm spreading. grin

A high cal pelletized lime raised the pH in 2 fields I limed in early July, .7 and .8 in 9 weeks. Both were in the very low 5’s. This product works faster than the 2 liquids I’ve tried and has already raised the pH more than the liquid lime did. I went my manufacturers suggestion on rate. And 2.5 gal of it in 25 gal of water is like spraying maple syrup

I used it a few times. That stuff is thick and needed to be diluted before pouring in the tank. It was sort of meh. I prefer peletized lime.

It be's that way sometimes.
