Most all employees in all establishment like this are fruitloops. $8.00-10.00 per hour gets $8.00-10.00 type work. Of course, there are exceptions to this to a certain degree but low pay=low expectations. That's no excuse. What happened to work ethics?

I went there today too, spent $60 on crap I didn’t need but was impressed with the store overall. They had a little bit of everything. The kids really enjoyed the bacon flavored dog treats and the popcorn.

There are a few of the old time hardware stores left, but you have to go to a relatively small and somewhat isolated town to find one. Grave's Hardware in Collinsville is a good example. The nearest town of any size is Fort Payne which is about 22 miles up I-59. Gadsden is about 25 in the opposite direction. It is in the old Downtown area of Collinsville.
I love places old like that. When you walk in you will notice things like an old wooden plank floor, wooden shelves and I think I remember that last time I was in there they still had an old timey rotating nail bin. Don't quote me on the last one though. You can buy the usual hardware/building material stuff plus they sell things, such as feed and seed that modern building material centers like Lowe's, Home Cheapo, and Marvin's just don't carry. My son bought some Coal for his forge at Grave's yesterday. Try to find THAT at Lowe's.
i'm not affiliated with them, I just like to promote pieces of Americana like family owned Hardware stores, General stores or old Country stores. Yep Graves is a good one. There used to be one in Ashland in the square but I can't remember the name.

My OCD bothers me whenever I go to the one in Muscle Shoals. There's always a line of folks to get the popcorn. They use the same scoop and put back on top of the popcorn once they are done. There's no telling how much fecal matter is on that scoop. I don't know why I care because I'm not the one doing it but it grosses me out.

The kids really enjoyed the bacon flavored dog treats Say whaaaat? 😀 They had a huge spinning bin of all kinds of bacon and other awesome looking/smelling pet treats. I opened the bin, smelled of one, and before i knew it my daughter was about to pop one in if I hadn’t smacked it out of her hand. Guess I need to feed them before we go next time or just let her eat it.

Dumbest employees I ever dealt with. I bought a new DeWalt 20v drill. The cashier would scan the little bar code and the register wouldn't recognize it. I pointed out the bigger bar code and up came the $99 price. But overall the employees were nice and helpful. My wife said for a new store, they had the nastiest bathrooms.

I saw one of the employees at Ace Hardware in Mills River NC reach in and get popcorn with his hand.

Most employees suck everywhere nowdays. As long as they can ring up their 24d and gly and hand me a receipt im good. The huntsville one is closer for me than Moultons so that will save me a hours drive each trip.

I've always been told that bathrooms can often tell a lot about a retail type place. Nasty bathrooms is a big reason why Bucees was founded.

And i never heard of rural king. Had no idea it was there either. Its ok but i doubt these big outdoor stores stay open for years. I bet dicks goes outta biz here within a year or 2 since academy and rural king is here.
Tractor supply is next door. Cabelas. 2 academy stores. 2 dicks stores. I don't see all of them makin profit for this size town. Its growin here but not like that.
