It's funny you say this. I have followed college football since I was a kid. However this year we got the cable cut off and only have the internet at the house. Nothing but broadcast TV and internet through our smart phone WIFI hotspots at the cabin where we will be on the weekends. So this year I plan on not even following football at all for a change. I'll see how that works, but I just got to thinking how stupid it was for me to follow most sports. Just like how silly it is to follow most any modern cultural offerings such as Hollywood movies or watching stupid shows on television.

So this year I think I am going to spend more time outdoors, hunting, fishing, hiking, 4 wheeling, working on fun and interesting projects at the cabin, chillin' on the back deck, cooking, grilling, reading good books that actually enrich my life, etc... There is just so much more to life than what passes for modern culture these days. Modern culture from football to movies to television to the media is all so shallow and meaningless.

That's a really good question...and I wish I could change. I need therapy. There is no way to explain it...I've tried.

There is a reason people like Danny Kannell and Colin Cowherd make millions of dollars, and that reason is lunatic fanbases. Bammers happen to be low hanging fruit to pick on and it's one of the largest fanbases in the country. Easy money

Not only Bammers, other fan bases lunatics are obsessed with bama and will follow everything Bama to try and cast any type of negativity on the program or the process.

I get it, but where my problem comes in to play is, If these guys weren't wearing a certain color jersey on any given Saturday, the fan base that pours $$$'s to watch/support them, wouldn't even acknowledge their existence on the same given Saturday.

Exactly... If those same young men weren't playing football for your favorite team and you happened upon most of them in certain situations you would probably double check to make sure you had your side arm.

So my point is that I got to thinking, I have tons of productive stuff to do so why waste my time watching a bunch of people play a game that I otherwise wouldn't invite over for dinner.

Now I know people are going to say, "Well, you waste a bunch of time on Aldeer." Well that's true, but I know and like a lot of you guys and I actually learn a lot of stuff on here. Plus this is the only place on Social Media that I "waste" time on. I do spend time on Craigslist and Facebook, but it's mainly to find stuff I want or need for cheap. And I do research stuff online and get my news online.

None of that is to say that watching sports isn't a fun diversion, because that's exactly what it is, but I'm going to step away this season, focus on other stuff, and see how that works out.

I love fall, watching football after working in the woods and grilling during the games with friends. Typically watch games with aubies and have a great time.
