I'm in the same boat often. I simply know that some people can't be trusted with firearms despite my belief in the 2nd Amendment. I also fully understand that the problem is how do we recognize these people and then deal with them. Somewhere, somehow, there is a workable compromise between the Ultra Conservative 2nd people and the Gun Control advocates.

I should also add that I don't have the answer. No where close to being able to solve it.

I agree that they're not of much use and I personally have no desire to own one. But when someone tells me I don't need a bump stock, or full auto, or whatever, I remind them that the Second Amendment is not about a need, it's about a fundamental right. I'm not so much worried about the bump stock, specifically. I'm more worried about setting a precedent of simply "reclassifying" something as a totally different object as a loophole so you can ban it. They literally took a piece of plastic and said "This is a machine gun" so they could ban it. That should scare the pants off any rational person.

And they also made it a FELON if you own one.

Yes and that kind of stuff scares me. It should scare anyone. When the Govt can make something currently in your possession a felony to own then things are a mess.

We are told we cant make laws based on the actions of one crazy person UNLESS its Gun Laws..then there is a double standard. Make no mistake, politicians want us defenseless IMO.

These red flag laws without any Due Process is a real threat to Americans freedom and right to bear arms. Who determines what is a Red Flag? Who can report a so called Red Flag? There is no way I can believe that any Red Flag laws wont be abused as they surely will.

The President needs to stand strong on these 2A rights or IMO he needs to be Primaried with a pro 2A candidate. If hes not truly a conservative then we need a President who is.

"District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008),[1] is a landmark case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's Right to keep and bear arms, unconnected with service in a militia, for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home, and that the District of Columbia's handgun ban and requirement that lawfully owned rifles and shotguns be kept "unloaded and disassembled or bound by a trigger lock" violated this guarantee. It also stated that the right to bear arms is not unlimited and that guns and gun ownership would continue to be regulated. It was the first Supreme Court case to decide whether the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms for self-defense or if the right was intended for state militias."

I don't disagree with any of the negative remarks about the NRA above BUT, they are the best game in town when it comes to getting, the spineless pricks (republicans) in Congress to toe the line against gun control. I was hoping Wayne Lapierre would get the boot earlier this year, but he showed how strong his power is and the people who tried to oust him are now gone from the NRA.

Like it or not, we NEED the NRA right now.

I think a few just ain't been around to see what the nra has done to piss us older guys off .

When the supported Don Siegelman for Lt Gov I dropped them . If you know his history you know why . Plus they have folded a few times since.

That's because that stance has paid better up until now. If compromise starts to look more profitable, they'll be telling us a little flexibility is needed to protect our rights in the future. It's all about the money.

They are NOT the only group fighting for our gun rights. There are groups that are MUCH more 2A-friendly than the NRA.......GOA being one of them. Unfortunately GOA just doesn't have the resources that the NRA does. Hopefully that will start to change.

GOA is a state on the southwestern coast of India within the region known as the Konkan, separated from the Deccan highlands of the state of Karnataka by the Western Ghats. It is bounded by Maharashtra to the north and Karnataka to the east and south, with the Arabian Sea forming its western coast. It is India's smallest state by area and the fourth-smallest by population. GOA has the highest GDP per capita among all Indian states.

Why does India care about Guns in the USA?
