And whatever you do, DO NOT get an excavator stuck. Unless you have a dozer or good size wrecker with a damn good winch handy they can be a bitch to get out or work them deeper trying to get out. A good operator should never get an excavator stuck. That being said, I remember when we had an idiot county engineer who fancied himself an operator. He buried a brand new cat excavator in a swamp near Maplesville. That was funny and sad at the same time. All you could see was the elbow sticking out of the mud.

We send 4-5 a month to the auction. We maintain them to highest standards and do all the required CAT items plus fluid analysis. They are all monitored wirelessly by CAT. Once they hit a certain hour reading they go to auction. They are in very good shape but for production machines our history says sell and replace with new. But, we use them in a month what a recreational user would in a year so it would probably do you very well. Might be bigger than what you want, but it would come with maintenance records and fluid analysis since new from CAT. And there’s the hauling of it. I’d buy used from CAT and ask for the info above.
not sure what the best way to handle them is but they shouldnt be on tv and gettn married and raisin kids

We bought a Cat 303CR and I had no idea how much that thing would be used. Best investment I ever made. Didn’t really need the enclosed cab and A/C but it sure is nice. And it will smash the hell out of a cottonmouth.

Avoid the headaches, just hire a owner/operator and let the man that knows what he is doing do the work. ok...dam work I had done. it required a track hoe and dozer...don't know the size but both were freaking huge. each one of them took up an entire lowboy trailer. the fee for just bringing them to the jobsite was $1500 each. add the fuel and operator...the $$ runs up pretty quick.

I've got a Kubota. KX 121-3ss I think it clocks in about 9400#. Somewhere around 45 hp.. Super handy machine. I've had it about 7 years. Kubota makes a fine machine. I rigged up a hydraulic bushhog for the front of it. Works like a champ for clearing lanes, pond dam, etc. I also fabricated a boom pole that allows me to set trusses, etc. I dig footers, cut roads, clear cutovers to make greenfields, etc. You'll be surprised how much you'll use it.

If buying a steel tracked machine you better pay more attention to leaks and engine hours than the tracks. Hard to wear a set of tracks out on a track hoe. If you are buying a rubber track mini excavator you better pay attention to everything. Most mini’s have a blade and if you push much with it it’s going to wear out the undercarriage.

^^^^ That one even has the $50 rebuild!
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.
