Why do some of yall dislike the newer marlin 30 30 .

Ive owned 4 of the older jm stamped marlins and I really don't see no difference other than the safety .

I bought a remlin about 3 years ago just to have at wal mart and have put about 80 rounds through it . I don't see a big deal . It shoots a good group and the trigger pull is nice . As for that safety I don't see it as a bad thing.

I ain't that happy with them/Remington because of what the did with H&R but I'll still buy a good gun.

The story I heard was thjat Marlin quality was dropping rapidly when rem bought them out. Their old good smiths had gone and those first guns after the transition were reported as horrible. I have heard that they now and maybe for a while have been as good or better than a JM stamped gun. I am sure you can hear it any way you like it though depending on who is talking.

The 2 newer ones I have rust very easily. It’s the model 700 finish that sucks! That’s my only complaint.

Other than being able to rust the new one by simply saying the word "water" withing 50 feet of one, the current production guns are just as good as the old JM stamped guns. The finish on them sucks!

The some of the transition guns did have issues ... Some. not all

That's good to hear. I had one come in for an action job a while back. I worked on it a little bit and put it up. The next day I went to get it out of the sefe to finish it and it was brown...fortunately it came of easily, hug I nearly had stroke when I saw it

whatever process remington uses to finish their guns willrust if there is more than a 20% chance of rain the next state over. ive had to ceracote or duracote every new remington ive bought. ive got some from the 70's and 80's that still look like brand new out of the box blueing for comparison yeah the older ones rust if you leave finger prints but it take a few days these new one will rust on the drive home.

The new ones are fine I am about to get another .45-70 guide gun before something else happens at or to Remington and things potentially change, again.

I do wish that they would come back out with the Marlin Express rifles and a few other options with a straight grip. At least they came out with one rifle with a straight grip been out maybe a year.

It's been rough and rocky traveling for them, but after 10 years they at least have been able to get the standard carbines correctly built.
