What's the going price per hour or per acre, however they charge it out. I would need about 3 acres total mulched. Mostly thick under brush with a few trees. I would be leaving the larger trees though.

I've heard in the $125 to $175/hour range.

That's the ranges i was thinking...sounds a lot better paying by the hour than by the job estimate. Unless you get a honest businessman doing the work and it turns out the job doesn't take as long as estimated and he gives me the hourly price.

Pricing by the hour is usually the most fair way for everybody. If bidding the job you have to miss on the high end so on average it’s cheaper by the hour

Obviously bidding is best for buyer if there is that much competition. Brother in law has had a hard time getting someone to do mulching in Auburn area. I assume because there remains so much due to tornados.

never price anything by the hour unless you are the one getting paid. you agree on a set amount upfront and clearly lay out expectations in writing when complete you sign the check. anyone here thats ever ran any type of construction crew can tell you hourly employees are clock milkers. pay by production workers will bust their tail. no professional should ever give an hourly rate for something they do regularly they should know enough about their job and what its gonna take to give a set price.

I run one for a friend on some of my off days, a 770 Bobcat with a Fecon head. He typically charges $125 an hour & that is a good price considering the expense involved. I keep the drum turning & tracks rolling whether its an hourly or bid job but i can see where there could be problems with some people milking the clock.

Let me add that price could be affected by distance traveled.

I own 0 acres but really want to try driving a mulcher.

Driving as the crow flies through nasty brush just sounds awesome.

I paid $125 an hour. Their haul time/distance can be a big factor in price.

I imagine that happens somewhat regularly, gets expensive and is frustrating.

It’s $140-150 a hour here. Can rent one for a 10hr day for $750 delivered or $1400 for a weekend. Southeastern equipment rentals.

I charge $150 an hour with a 4 hour minimum. I don't milk the clock. Time is actual machine time on the job clock, not some random number.
