I think it was the summer of 1980, we had several days of 100+ degree days in Mississippi and I was hauling hay (wheat straw during June). Then we stacked it in a barn loft. We had to toss the hay up to a person above us. The wheat straw/chaff would float back down and stick wherever it landed because of the sweat. I don't know how hot the loft was, but it actually felt cool when we got down and back to the 100 degree shade of the barn. The summer of 1980 is what all others are judged by in the mid-west and southeast, brutal and relentless . 2007 was pleasant compared to '80. Many farmers went broke that year.

1984 when we had 3 a day practices for a week in August but heat didn't really bother me as bad then.
I had a minor heat stroke around July of 2000 and haven't been able to tolerate it since.

Working on top of the Woodward Iron Coke Oven in Hueytown was probably about the hottest I've ever been. Not sure of the year, maybe 2008, but it was in August. The top of the oven was so hot that we had to wear wooden sandals strapped to the bottom of our boots or else they would melt. We also wore a layer of protective clothing and respirators that greatly restricted your airflow. About an hour at one time was all you could do before you had to cool off. Thankfully, they had a room with AC in it on top of the oven.
Sig Sauer, to hell and back reliable.

June 29, 1994 I was on the side of the road about 2 miles north of Lake Havasu City with a blown right front tire on the new company truck that didn't have a spare. I had a bag phone, full tank of gas and several liters of water. While I waited on roadside assistance it was 128 degrees. Read it here... https://www.latimes.com/travel/la-t...hottest-day-ever-20190614-htmlstory.html
I firmly believe that a double gallows should be constructed on the East Lawn of The White House. Politicians who willfully and shamelessly violate their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America should be swiftly tried and, upon conviction, publicly hanged at sunup the day after conviction. If multiple convicts are to be hanged they can choose with whom to share the gallows or names shall be drawn from the hangman's hat to be hanged 2 at a time.

Think it was the summer of '97, so it was already hot enough...was working as a millwright with a local maintenance/construction company at the Scott/Sappi/KC paper mill here in Mobile. We got a call to one of the paper machines that morning for a bearing that was going out on one of the paper machine rolls. The bearing was on the backside of the machine, with another paper machine behind us. It was at least 140° between the 2 machines, along with all of the associated steam causing nearly 100% humidity. The bearing had to be changed ASAP. We worked 2 crews of 4 or 5 guys each to get it changed...one crew would work for a while and the other crew took a break, taking in water and gatorade type drinks. We worked on the bearing for nearly 14 hours. I got home and took a cool shower and sat down on the couch...as soon as I'd get comfortable, my arms and legs would start cramping up. Get the cramps worked out and sit back down, and start cramping up again. We got to work the next morning and most of us were still cramping up
August of 98, we were playing in a softball tournament and it was nearly 100° that day. We came off the field between innings, and I was feeling bad. I got off the field and ran a rag under the water spicket by the fence to drip it ove my neck and head. We had a bucket with ice water and spirit of ammonia and rags that we'd use to cool off between innings/games. One of the guys on the team saw me and grabbed one of the rags and I heard the paramedics/firemen team that were also in the tournament holler NO as he threw the rag over the back of my neck and head. I don't remember anything after that but everybody said that I stood up, my eyes rolled back, my arms and legs went stiff, and I hit the ground and started convulsing. I don't know how long I was out, but I woke up with ice packs under my arms and between my legs. Paramedics/firemen said that had they not been there (or someone else familiar with heat related illness) it could have gotten bad for me. Ever since then, i have had all kinds of issues in the heat.

The hottest non-weather environment that I ever worked in was directly below the boilers at Colbert Steam Plant when TVA was running it in the late 90s. When I say directly below I mean standing about 10 feet under them. I was terminating fiber and could only do 2 connectors and then swap out with my coworker and then he'd do 2 and come out. That was roughly 10 minutes at a time for each of us. I figure the temp was in the 140* range.

You are spot on there fellas. That was august of 1992. When the fever broke I escaped the hospital and made my way back overseas AWOL and was known as JohnnyLoco every since. The Army MP’s found me and brought me to a medivac aircraft with the props turning and back to the states. 107 degree fever for five days on refrigeration blankets and cold transfusions in ICU until I met Jesus and it ceased instantly. 107°or higher can cause brain damage......... Cannot remember the specific year but back when I was working construction in my 20's. The hottest would have to be changing out the heating coils on the mezzanine floor over the paper machine at a paper mill. Don't know the exact temp but it had to be 130 to 140, You could only stand working in it for short periods. I see a reoccurring pattern here. Any place hotter than the ceiling over a paper machine is no place to be. We would ride the crane from light to light to change the bulbs. The hand rails were so hot they would burn you. One or two bulbs is all you could do before getting dangerously hot. Somebody else said it, when you come down and it’s 97 outside and you start shivering bc it feels cold compared to where you just came from.
