Does that kind of corn have a small stalk size normally? Looks like that is small, too thick?

Marsh, is it too early to pick it? Is it a total loss?

I planted on a 4” spacing and I think it is to close. I usually plant on 8” spacing and get lots of suckers growing on the stalks. The next planting will be a 6” spacing and see how that works out. Also the Aspire2 variety does have a little smaller stalk then the others we planted. Not sure how big of a stalk it would take to hold up to 60mph gust. thumbup

It’s about a week or so from being ready. The ears will be fine as not many stalks are broke. They’re just leaning. It will be a pain to pick if it don’t stand back up. Not sure about it being fully pollinated with all this wind. I did pull a couple ears and all the kernels were formed so we will just have to wait and see. If that’s the worst thing that happens here with the storm, I will take it. Lots of other people are having to deal with a bad time right now.

That's good, I'm glad it wasn't a loss.

The other corn patch is still producing. In between rains yesterday I went grab a few ears and cleaned them up. Buttered and seasoned them up. Wrapped them in foil and threw them in the oven. I LOVE them like that. thumbup
