For the longest ( one of about 3 ever actually not counting a few long weekends) vacation I’ve ever taken in my life and at about the worst time I could imagine. We planned this almost a year ago and if I back out I guess it’d be a divorce. Leaving tomorrow headed to Vegas I guess since after that we’re working our way back. Taking a southern trail out there spend the 3rd and 4th in Vegas then a northern trail back home.

I’m just not a vacation kind of guy, I like working, but I know the family deserves it. Maybe I can forget about the real world and enjoy it.

I'm the same way. I'd rather stay home . All I can do is think of all the crap I have to do when I get back but like you i do it for my family.

Enjoy there will come a time that the memories will mean more than all the work in the world. Hey I know I’m at that point that I love the memories.

I have to force myself to take vacations. I'm a contractor so if I'm not working I'm not getting paid. I love my job and what I do but I love my family more. It's hard to have fun when you know your losing money and getting further behind but you got to do it for the family. One day you or them may not be around and you'll wish you had.

What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight.

Look at the upside.... nobody will likely drive through a wall in your shop with you gone. laugh

I know the feeling. Just took the family to Europe for 2 weeks, longest I've been away from work. But in my business most of my work is by phone and internet so I wasn't totally disconnected.

Have fun and safe travels.

I forget how old you are but I know you're not a young guy either. You're getting older. Savor the moments and slow down a little.

Some folks don't get to go that far. Consider yourself lucky, sit back, and enjoy the experience.
